Looks to me like the alpha channel on the poly is not rendering correctly. Instead of transparency you are getting black rendered in it's place.
I get this all the time on my home rig for some reason (not on my work PC though) I figure it's a driver issue.
Minimizing and maximizing, or windowing then full-screening GW generally fixes it till the next re-zone.

God....good old times ^^.
Repair your .dat file.

in order to fully help you it is nice to post your computers specs. like the graphics card at least and the driver version. It does look like a corrupted .dat file. If you do not know where it is, use search for gw.dat. it should be about 3.75GB in size, give or take a little bit. you can either:
1) rename the .dat to .datold, use the -image switch and re download everything
2) rename the file and install from the newest cd you own, then run the -image. This is faster than the 1st option.

If this just affects trees/shrubs/buildings in the distance which then draw properly when you move closer, then it's normal behaviour.
If not then yes; go ahead and -image yourself a new .dat

yeah its only this one tree so its probably .dat... well downloadin time :s

Hm, one particular missing texture certainly does sound like a dud .dat, then.

@Bathazard - I agree with those who say it's a .dat problem. Try "-repair" or "-image".

If you are running texmod, many mods will make strange changes to other graphics in the game. Otherwise, make sure that your graphics card is supported
