I recently moved into an apartment on campus at my university, only to discover that when loading guild wars, I get error code 58.
I contacted my network administrator and he told me that port 6112 was open but 80 is usually blocked and told me to try a proxy.
The only proxy I've found so far is sockscap but the download will not start.
Is there another proxy out there I can use that's... free?
(I just bough Eye of the North before I moved in and I really wanna play my new expansion.... )

Download Hotspot Shield. I use it to get around the firewall at work. xD

That Hotspot Shield screams of spyware to me.
Any others?

I really really doubt you're going to find anything, that doesn't have at least a limit on the data you can transfer or isn't supported by ads, for free.

I don't know much about proxys, but didn't Anet recently add a block to them?

I don't know if you can hide or not hide your IP address etc. In case you can't show your real address, you're screwed.

I fail to see the problem here. Has ANet banned the college IP range or something? There's bound to be a fix, but we need to know what the exact problem is. For example, what is error 58?

You're paying for your internet, no? Contact your network admin again and tell him to unblock it or let you speak to someone else who can do something for you.

One thing with proxies is that it may increase your latency. For example, let's assume that their server is in Texas. I am in North Carolina. Normally I go right to Texas and that's it. Now assume I proxied through somebody in California. I now go NC->CA->TX, a longer route both ways.
I'd still like to know what error 58 is.
