why i think the general guild wars community are all nerf happy

ok so my problem with guild wars (and why i am playing a lot less till gw2 at least) is not that builds I use and like to run are getting nerfed, its the matter in which build's nerfs are being decided. for lack of a better way of putting it ill just quote someone.

found this in a topic about buffing The Great Destroyer just cuz someone dose not want to see people running the mission. so i ask, how dose the general "nerf this nerf that" person make gold? is it going with guild groups to elite mission/eotn dungeons all day? solo farming some part of uw with a [VwK] war, right after posting, "ya i was hoping for the shadow form nerf soon, it was um.... unbalanced" what they dident post is "so my ecto would go up".

or is it that all the people working to get something nerfed are using it themselves but have already got so much gold with it they don't care?

I can say more but since all this is gona get is flame anyways why bother.

No one cares about gold. We want the game to be fun again. If you're playing this game for gold, you're playing the wrong game.

The economy is already dead, and godmode should exist in no game.

ok so i talk about gold ya... but really I could not care less about the gold. Its more so the principle of it. i might have goten off on the gold thing more then I was meaning to but ya... "nerf this", "why", "cuz I feel like doing it a harder way", "so just do it the harder way and leave other people alone", "no to easy"

and the suggestion is that anet just stop looking into fan game suggestions concerning balance. its hurt more then helped, but then some might say differently.

and really game balance? ya in pvp i see the point. but in pve how is anything unfair if every one can use it or not use it?

This thread'll go nowhere, but I'll offer you a piece of advice - learn to properly spell, it won't make your posts such eyesores to read.

"Don't like it, don't use it" is the oldest argument against nerfing everything, and it's retarded. First, this is a multiplayer game, some people dislike being forced into a single overpowered template. Second, the onus is on game developers to provide a challenge, players shouldn't have to gimp themselves to play.

I honestly can't tell what else you're trying to say, please use spellcheck.

1. It's not that they didn't want people running the mission. It's because that is the essentially the ONLY option for completing the mission, other than using heroes and henchmen. If something is so broken that it affects how others play the game if they do not choose the broken option, that is a problem.

2. The "general" person makes gold by simply playing the game. That is, they play the main storylines, do all quests, and are patient with making purchases. It's incredible how much money you can make from just the mission and quest rewards (without considering drops), even in Normal Mode. There are also many other options in making massive amounts of money that doesn't involve one iota of farming with overpowered builds (e.g. Zaishen Tournament House, Holiday Items, Birthday Presents, etc.).

Easiest Non farming Way To Make Gold = Play/Enjoy The Game your Playing-Dont Spend The Gold You Earn Doing so.

Nerfing happens for lots of reasons. It's not just because lots of ppl are complaining.

Balance is the main reason. How do you know if something is unbalanced?

Well... when everyone and their sister's cousin's friend's brother is using a particular build, such that you can't find a pug for an elite area unless you run that build, then that is a clear sign to the developers that a skill or build is too effective compared to others. Does that mean they'll nerf it? Sometimes yes, sometimes no.

The biggest reason Ursan was nerfed was that certain professions were being excluded from teams, due to the advantages held by high-armored professions. They intended it to be useable by everyone, but in the end, people were being excluded. If you notice the mechanics of the nerf, they attempted to make things equal for the other professions while using it. Not that they succeeded, but the intent was clear in the changes they made.

Regarding Shadow Form: You need to realize that SF was buffed, which had a drastic effect on the in-game economy. They tried to correct their mistake with a nerf. This was partially successful, as ectos began to regain some of the pre-buff value. However, there was enough negative feedback, that they decided to scale back the previous nerf somewhat in the August update. My theory is that they did this to offset the effect of nerfing Ursan... one would push the economy one way, and one the other.

It would appear that, so far, buffing SF is having more of an impact than the Ursan nerf, as evidenced by the current low value of ectos.

Overall, the August update had several buffs and few nerfs, for better or for worse.

Complaints to nerf things because they're (example) driving down ecto prices, or because it makes the game easier by allowing you to easily skip a mission by getting it run come for a few reasons. I think the biggest reason is the stubborn-ness of certain individuals. They decide that they don't want to get a run, and they want to do it for themselves (for whatever retarded reason...it's fun the first few times, but eventually it gets boring) and then decide that they want the rest of the community to feel the same way. Or it's due to selfishness. Suddenly people forget that this is just a game and decide that the economy actually matters, and that it's important that their huge stacks of pink-squishies are worth alot. Whilst this gives opportunity to the newer and less experienced players, or the players who want to actually play a game and not just use it as some sort of buy-low-sell-high trading playground, it's inevitably the players who have invested the most time in their accounts who win over. And thus the fabled "nerfbat" goes nuts.

I've come to realise that, whatever the reasons, it doesn't really bother me. This is a game guys. Please, stop treating it like it's real life, and like it means that you're officially unable to do anything about it except QQ on forums when something is changed and you don't like it. Find something else to do, or a work around, and move on. And if you can't do that?

I don't farm. Ever. It's boring, and I have no real need for the gold. I have several sets of prestige armor, weapon sets for every build I need. I don't have chaos gloves.

Some people actually play the game because it's fun. Remember fun? It's what you had before video games degenerated into repetitive grindfests.

Most of this does boil down to gold and rare items. You get the type of people who get these things and dont want anyone else to have it so they feel special and can call themselves "leet" When they see other players get the same things, they dont like it and try and find things to complain about to stop it or make it harder for them to get the same things. (human nature, cant fix it)

On the other hand you do get some people who like to plod along, but when they get to certain points where only certain proffesions with certain builds can get into teams (these are the majority trying to get more gold and titles as fast as they can)they dislike it and think it ruins the game and it would take the fun out of the game for them.

If you think about it logically, you could of realised this was going to happen from the start of the game. Gw isnt like most mmo's, you have a lot of freedom with skill builds. Where as a lot of other mmo's have only a set amount and you use them ALL in combat, so there is no room for a skill build.

Simple fact, there will always be new farm builds coming out, some will love them and some will hate them and you will always get flame wars about them because of how gw is made.

Making thread like these will acomplish nothing apart from arguments, it wont change anything just let it be lol.

Find yourself a group of friends who like to play in the same way as you and you will have fun. I personally dont farm, because i dont have the patience for it and yet i have managed to buy everything i have wanted so far. My ele has over 40 minis and 9 sets of armour (7 are elite) tons of weapons and so on. So farming isnt the answer to all for money ;-p
I have found myself a good guild who like to have fun and a close group of friends so we play gw together and enjoy it, if you dont like how someone else plays the game then dont play with them.

Nothing constructive is coming from this, so closed.
