Yep. Think of heroes like PvP characters. They also can use any elite skill that you capture on any character on your account.

That's awesome news. I wish they put this in the wiki; I couldn't find it there.

you can also just buy the skill unlock packs from the gw store and all your heroes will be able to use any skill elite or regular found in those packs. Get em all and your heroes will have access to every skill in the game.

I didn't know they didn't cover that in the wiki. Thought I'd go ahead and add to it.

Why would you pay for something you can get by just playing the game?

Wiki probably use different words for the same thing (srry, too lazy now to look it up).

But heroes can use every (elite)skill that is unlocked on your account. Unlocking a skill is done via priest of balthazar, buying them from a skillstrainer or capturing them yourself... an exception: heroes cant use PVE-only skills!

skill unlock packs ftw. In answer to why you would pay for something when you can just play the game; not everyone plays each character. If I hadn't purchased the skill unlock packs I would never had been able to use my dervish, warrior, Sin or Paragon heroes. (have each of those characters but hardly ever play them...have minimal unlocks)

pamelf said it pretty well but my reasoning is also that whenever I need an elite that I haven't capped or something all I have to do is buy the elite tome and bam its mine. No work. also i never have to worry about a hero not being able to run a build I might need them to use.

you can easily do that with balth faction. you don't have to play a profession to unlock it. but hey what people do with their money it's their business.

from the wiki http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Hero under Customization

"Heroes, like PvP characters will have skills that you have unlocked on your account available to them, this includes Elite Skills. PvE only skills can only be used by the player, meaning you can't equip a hero with a Sunspear Rebirth Signet or any other PvE Only skills."

Best thing to do for getting hero skills is to wait for an easy PvP weekend, rack up as much faction as you can, and spend it on skills you don't have. Scope out builds you'd like to use on PvX and target those skills first, moving on to the lesser used ones later.

You can do elites under that method, but if you have a main PvE character that you use, it's much better to capture the elite with your main character so that you can get progress in the Skill Hunter track in addition to unlocking it for your hero. Unlocking through faction to capture it later is usually a waste of faction.

You may freely change the skills used by your hero in the Skills and Attributes panel. It is important to note that heroes automatically have access to all skills that are unlocked on the player's account, including elite skills.
@farmerfez Not everyone has enough skillpoints, gold or Balth Faction to go around unlocking skills as they need them. The unlock packs, though generally more useful to the PvP crowd, is a great way to get a head start on that if you have the money to spare and not the time. But again, its not for everyone, hence its not an essential purchase for the GW player.

You do know that you can change your heroes bar, right? If you did and when you tried, you would have seen all the elites and skills available to your heroes.
