GW is the only mmo I play, so I'm not sure if other games do, but why doesn't ANET publish statistics for rare weapon drop rates?
There's information about rare minipets and the exact amounts that are circulating thoughout the game, so why not for rare weapons? Sure, as time passes more and more rares enter the game, but why not publish or release information about their drop rates?
I would be very curious to know roughly how many "rare" weapons are currently in circulation. [ie. eternals, obsidians, crystallines, frog sceptors, bone dragon staves, etc.]
So why does ANET keep this information in-house?

I don't know if they even keep that information at all. The reason the exact numbers of some pets are known is that they were given out only to certain accounts as rewards for various tournaments/events/drawings.

If they would do that, prices will skyrocket for some and hit the floor for some others. And we don't want to know that there are 20k copies of our voltaic spear, do we?

Vaguely speaking, statistically less often than non-rares.

There was a plan, or a thought of ANet putting up statistics on their site but I don't know what happened.

you think anet would wanna put statistics up that they would hav to change every day if not every hour lol
and they only count the rare mini pets which u cannot obtain anymore unless through trade
thier isnt any number on the numbers of Mini ghostly ingame because they still drop as well as birthday pets and few other exeptions..

I'd say, be glad with the info we have as it is now.
A lot of the other MMO's really don't have all the info on thier wikis (If they even have one) as our two do.
As an example, I just decided to check out Arch Lord which just had a huge update but no update notes like GW does. Only way to find out where new stuff comes from is by word of mouth. :S
