People in the Guild Wars community need to realize that Monk's aren't the only profession that can heal. I have noticed a few more Ritualist healers in RA than usual, but in the PvE community, Rits are highly underestimated as healers. I'm not saying that Monk's are bad healers and shouldn't be used, but just take into consideration some of the Ritualist heals.
Personally, I heal on my Rit, and people don't understand how powerful some Ritualist heals are.
Spirit Light: (16 Resto) 188 heal, 1 sec. casting time, 4 sec. recharge, 5 energy.
Soothing Memories: (16 Resto) 106 heal, 3/4 sec. casting time, 4 sec. recharge, 5 energy.
Mend Body and Soul: (16 Resto) 121 heal, 3/4 sec. casting time, 3 sec recharge, 5 energy.
Look at those spells, and and tell me that those aren't good heals! (And that is without the secondary effects!)
I'm expecting some people, as always, to tell me "You obviously haven't heard of Divine Favor"... well, YES! I have. Even with Divine Favor, most Monk heals just don't add up to that much.
And after getting 27 consec. in RA with me (Rit) as the only healer, and doing a complete FoW HM run with only 2 rit healers... there's no way you can truthfully say that Rits are worse healers than Monks!
Rits can heal, too!

Rits are 10x better at channeling/restoration then pure restoration. Also using a sup on a healer = lols.
Anyone with an ounce of knowledge knows about the few powerful rit heals btw. The other 99.9% of the gamebase usually doesn't visit forums.
Some advice: Never EVER determine a builds strength by how it performs in RA. The amount of stupid shit that some people run that can make it through there is astounding, so being able to beat them never says much about a build.

This.
But really, I agree with you. My Rit runs Resto most of the time and I really enjoy the whole party heals. Life and PwK are two of the best whole party heals in the game and (now) Xinrae's is a brutally effective life-saver that is like an elite RoF. Combined with a hybrid Prot/Heal Monk (usually with WoH for the full health recovery spikes), it does very well.
Is it as effective as a Monk or as long-lasting as N/Rt? Maybe not, but a well-played heal is a well-played heal.
EDIT: Methinks a buff to Spawning power, aptly done, would add a lot to Rits as a class in general. Maybe a tiered, percent based increase in the strength of skills, somewhat similar to Fast Casting and Strength, where your whole gameplay level increases because of your primary, would be awesome.

Monk with, let's say 15 Heal + 13 DF.
WoH - +130hp 5e | 3/4 sec cast | 3 sec recharge PLUS another +100hp if they're under 50% health
PLUS 42hp from divine favor. The DF bonus is free, with no attached strings.
Sure, Spirit Light heals for a bit more if they're not under 50%, but at a cost. If your rit is running a sup rune, and there are no spirits around (entirely possible), that 17% is going to hurt.
This is, of course, just one skill. In other words, don't send in a rit to do what a monk was freaking made for.

Pure resto rits suck for the same reason pure healing monks suck - you only need two or three skills at most from the restoration line, everything else is redundant.
Rits in the arenas tend to get raped pretty hard when their spirits get killed or interrupted. A 3 second cast that your entire build relies on is like a big red "DSHOT ME PLZ" sign glued to your head.

The Ritualist Healer is a powerful ally to have on your team. Based off just a single attribute(restoration). With this Attribute they can Blind, Block, Heal, Party Heal, Steal health, Remove Conditions, Pre-Prot.
Weapon of Shadow
Weapons of Warding
Soothing Memories
Wielders Boon
Spirit Light
Mend Body and Soul
Protective was Kaolai
Vengeful Weapon
Xinraes Weapon
Pure was Li Ming
There is a reason most guilds use a Rit as their flag runner. And that is because it is most versatile character in game. The rit doesnt get the credit it deservs. Pm Me in game if ya wanna see some builds of mine
See Ya in halls!

Honestly, a N/Rt healer (which is better than a Rt healer) might be better than a Monk with only Healing/DF in PvE, but I would have to say that Monks win hands down in PvP (a Rt just can't beat TheWholeProtLine/DF/WoH/Etc/Etc).
P.S. Lose the sup rune

A monk in PvP can be stripped of enchants, you cant strip weapon spells. Therfore guardian+aegis vs Weapon of Warding.
Warding wins
WoH vs Spirit Light+Life
Tie Depending on circumstances
Prot vs Resto
Prot is a little ahead due to SoA and prot spirit
BUT Resto Rit vs Monk with atts all spread
Rit wins.
oh and better e management on rit ;\
