earphone/speaker
MrGuildBoi
Ok, I usually use my speakers during the day, but during the night I want to use my earphones. But to do this I need to unplug my speaker cord out of the back of the tower. Is there a way to use both but turn one off vice versa (did I use that term right?). I tried plugging my headphones in all the colored holes but it didn't work. Also I tried plugging them in where theres a hole in the cd drive. Not sure what I need to post, just ask. Also is this the right area to post?

use an extension cord from the back of the tower to the front (i taped mine to under the desk). simple.

Most speakers have an option to plug your earphones into them. Otherwise you might look into a splitter or an extension cord as suggested. And no you didn't use the term 'vice versa' correctly.

use either a splitter or get better speakers. Another option is to use a bluetooth headset at night.
I personally run game sound through speakers, music through an ipod dock connected to a set of old wharfdales and vent through bluetooth headset.
Great music, combat sounds and random vent chat all in one.
If you get a good gaming headset rather than a phone one the audio quality should be fine.

If your system has a front mounted headphone jack, plugging headphones into it may automatically disconnect the speakers. The jack, if it exists, would be around the same area as front mounted USB jacks (if you have them). It may or may not disconnect the rear connected speakers.

What is your system's sound card? Or is it on-board sound? You may have an option to allow both speaker and headphones at the same time...

I got an extension cord for it but I'm not getting any sound from the right earphone.

Maybe your earphones are damaged? This happens a lot to my earphones on my mp3 player.

That is a good sound card - it should have 3 or 4 different outputs for speakers. You should be able to plug your headphones into any one of them and have it work. On your desktop toolbar, somewhere on the right you should have a Sound Blaster icon, open that up and see if there is a place that gives you an option to change ports. It is possible, that you may need to either activate or change one of them from speaker to headphones. I haven't had a Sound Blaster card in a few years, so I hope that I am remembering it right...
