Treasure in your Hall of Monuments
Odinius
So there will be no money transfer to GW2, that's ok I guess.
But saving up a lot of cash is an achievement I think, which should be remembered.
How about you giving gold to Gwen so she will put it in your hall.
You could give any amount and at every 100k the piles of gold start growing.
Would make a lovely sight to see those empty corners filles with treasure.
They can even add a 10 tier title for it and it would be a great goldsink because the gold can't be taken out of the Hall once you put it in.
So what happened to your treasure when you finally discover your ancestors long lost Hall?
Robbers have cleaned out all of the gold about 100 years ago and the hall was forgotten.
All that is left of the treasure is a gold amulet one the robbers must have dropped
It brings "bad luck" if you wear it, they can even add a small quest for it that requires you to find the clan that robbed your ancestors Hall.
When asking the decendants of the robbers about the treasure they tell you that after many nights of drinking and living like madman all but nothing remains of the once found treasure.
You tell the clan elder of the amulet you found and he recognises the amulet being his grandfather's who passed away recently.
The elder feels bad for you and wants the amulet, so he offers a trade: The amulet for a gold ring said to have belonged to Prince Bokka the Magnificent.
You accept your loss of the treasure and accept the trade.
Acuired "Bokka's Royal Seal" it brings "good luck" when you wear it.
(gives +0,5% more chance of higher gold amounts to drop)
Well enough talk I'm getting carried away too much
I leave you with a concept screenie of what your hall should look like when you have finished (bought) this title.

interesting idea but too much like z title and other buyable titles. I feel as if this shows nothing but luck, you got a lucky drop thus you were able to sell for gold etc. Adding another tile would sorta imbalance the koabd title track but well see

Hmm... I don't like the concept of buy-a-title. And you know, on the last day of gw, everyone will be clearing out everything they have in order to pour money into their HoM.
EDIT: Cool picture though .

I don't particularly have a problem with this proposed title. The reality is that it could be an effective gold sink for awhile - and their are players that need a way to get rid of gold legitimately. I'm also of the opinion that their should be a bit of leeway in the number of titles to maxing out KOBD.
I personally have no interest in the Drunkard title. While I'm not a prude or teetotaler, I don't approve of the implication of the title. Growing up, a close friend's father was an alcoholic. So to me this is unacceptable. Not enough to gripe about, just enough not to participate. ::shrugs::
Then their are titles which cannot be obtained without lots of planning ahead. Such as Survivor or Legendary Defender of Ascalon.

BTW, The "last day of GW" is the day that GW2 goes live. Honestly, this is pretty much a no-brainer.
Whether or not GW1 is ever removed from the servers, their will be a huge migration of players into the newer game. While I'm not sure of how many active players (defined as playing 10+ hrs/week) their are at any given time, if most of them move to GW2, the original game's continued existence is questionable. Sooner of later it will not be cost effective for Anet to pay for something few customers use.

Ah, there it is, found it. I thought I smelled massive amounts of fail.

Everything EXCEPT for the title part sounds brilliant IMO. I would love my HoM to be all shiny and have some sort of a quest line in GW2 about it being stolen.
Piles of treasure in the corners of the HoM and maybe even in the scrying pool is Brilliant.
And I smell a massive jerk. Honestly couldn't even say what you disliked about it? You have to insult the person like a moron. Jeez >_>

Well, technically it isn't any different/worse the sweet tooth/z-rank/FoW/multple elite armor monuments/tormented and destroyer weapon monuments.
Granted, a LOT of people don't support those items (and some people can argue that stuff like FoW armor shows you can do FoW, not the money you earned, granted so does the FoW completion monument)
However, (while its a well done shop), maybe if the monument wasn't so ridiculous looking, and was just another minor achievement statue like all the other ones. Otherwise, I don't like the idea of making this any "better" then any other type of achievement.

I hate having to compare this Wonderful game to Halo but..
When Halo 3 came out I went to target to get it and they were sold out of Halo, Halo 2, and Halo3. So i thing Even with GW2 i think Gw1 will still be an active game, Especaly after you beat GW2 in 15 Hours.

I really do like this idea, what about for the people who don't need anything to buy anymore? I don't like it as a title, since that is easily obtainable by paying $40, however I would like it as a HoM. It would Eternal Riches or something.

OK, a "Gold-Accumulation Title" has been pretty widely accepted as a bad idea with the amount of eBaying gold as rampant as it is, and the easy free money from XTH and treasures.
/notsign for original idea
Although, this reminded me of the "Guild Storage" idea that Anet said would definitely happen soon about a year ago. Anyone else remember that, or am I the only one?

I like the idea of gold spread out all over the HoM. I like the idea of another gold sink.
/notsigned no more titles
How about we get to display the amount of gold our H/H have accumulated with your character?

The HoM is already to show accumulated wealth./ The things we fill it up with are already incredibly expensive thus this would be totally unnecesary.
I am totally /unsigned on this.
And lol at the picture above.

Well... the hall of monuments is actually a 'tomb'.
Tombs can have treasure.
But in GW gold is not very important.
If the 'treasures' were rare items all over the world, like unique weapons, it could bbe a different thing.

I'd like it if I had huge amounts of cash to waste...
/notsigned for title
/signed for those people who have stacks of ecto/zkeys/armbraces and want to show off their gold :P
