Non-ranked Heroes Ascent
RvGaTe
Ok... i think almost everyone has to have this feeling about HA...
After a few hours of pve, just playing with friends and stuff, you feel like doing something more challenging. so you enter Heroes Ascent... and start looking for a group and open the party list:
glf r7+ infuser
glf r7+ pd and infuse
glf rank 7+
glf r3+
glf rc monk r7+
glf r6+ 2 rao 1 ele
glf r3+
glf hb y rc monk r6+
Now what i'm wondering is... why do people demand these stupid ranks... i wisper some of the team leaders, to say im not ranked, but have what they want... and tell me gently (in the most dis-respectfull way) to go back to PvE because im a noob without a rank. Or i get kicked for having the wrong build, and couldn't change it fast enough for them (time span: 4 secs)... or for having 1 particular skill still locked.
seriously, how are we no-ranked players ever going to get up to r3+? if we never get accepted in groups.
some people might say: "join a ha guild", "grind it", "join non-ranked groups"... but seriously... how do you expect someone who's in the same guild for years to just leave it and find another JUST for HA ?? and finding a non ranked group is a possibility, but i'm not going to spend an entire day finding that one group that can MAYBE win match and gain exactly 1 fame (r8 here we come?)...
i think this whole rank thing kills HA for newcomers... HA is not farming, its a different style of PvP... wich most people like, but are unable to play it because of elitism (if thats even a word). Why is it so hard to not kick that non-ranked person from your group for once, and see how it goes... and let them have fun to sometimes in HA....
ps. you meet the most ignorant people there aswell...

If there was unranked HA, it would be filled with horrible players playing against horrible players, and NO ONE would enjoy it.
It would be 8 man RA. Bad idea.

People think that rank=skill and experience.
And they don't want people who don't have experience in HA. Nothing you can do about them.
You just have to find a guild or PuG that doesn't care about peoples ranks.
A HA guild would be your best bet, or if you don't want to leave your current guild, just ask your guildies if they want to set up a group. My guild is mainly PvE, but we HA sometimes, too

Rank does = experience. It used to also = skill, but everyone is running shitway now so it doesn't.
Even still, I would take a rank 9 player over a lower rank ANY day, simply because they'd know how to play the maps better.

I've actually just been joining groups and just ignoring the rank requirements during the last double fame weekend. For about 90% of the groups, you will be asked to show your rank. But for the other 10% you can actually get by. And tbh, it's those groups that have the best chance of being successful anyway.
I did this with a few groups, and I got a good one that won halls once and got me 92 fame during the double fame weekend. Of course I didn't have much time to play this weekend but otherwise I could've easily gotten r3.
As long as you know what to do and don't play terribly, no one will notice once you get by the initial screening.

So, the problem is if you aren't rank 3+, you can't find a group.
Question: How is having an unranked HA going to solve this? It's not. It's also a horrible idea. As Fenix said, it's going to be bad people against bad people, with the occasional good team going there for shits, giggles and faction.

You do have a point that its hard to start. To get to r3 you have to really want it. Its true that its hard to get to r3. In my opinion its easiest to get some friends to come with you even if they dont know how to do HA. Go on pvxwiki and look at the builds for HA everyone uses them so its an easy way to find them. Observe alot that helps so much. Also you must know what the terminology is so do your research. Finally you have to understand that people dont want unranked people because their are some "pve noobs" that are not willing to learn and are a big nuisance so the ranked players but every unraked player in that "pve noob" category unfortunately (some unranked players actually are decent). Good Luck

People want the most experienced they can find. People play PvP to win, and that is why.
I agree with Fenix on the 8-man RA thing. Just work yourself up, build a friends list and get out of using gimmicks once you hit r6, to play more adept builds. PvP was never supposed to be an easy ride in competetive gaming.

It basically just weeds out bad players, but unfortunately it also weeds out potential good players.
As suggested, join a guild that accepts unranked players.
Edit:
Or just befriend someone who is high rank and have him cover for you.

While I have never been a fan of the arrogant ego-inflated HA frequenters, I have to agree with the other posters; HA isn't the place to start PvPing. I'd say try TA and once you feel comfortable with your abilities (and maybe have a nice friends list of PvPers) try doing unranked pugs in HA (if they still exist, haven't been back in a while) to get a feel for it. And maybe try to get some guildies/friends to start a pug. It's a pain in the a$$ but once you get r3 I'm sure you'll be able to rank up alot easier.
fenix
Do what we all did many years ago. Get a guild team, run a gimmicky build, or a balanced that will beat gimmicks, and get your rank high enough that you can join decent PuGs when you want.
God I M Stoned
HA rank isn't stupid... its a way to rank players on HA experience and also on how they play the maps and strategy... a r4/5/6/7/8+++++++ will MOST LIKELY play better than an unranked/r3 player considering, they've won more HA maps... and i don't sympathize with whiners like you about not being able to get a good group and stuff.... because do you know what i did? i PUGged my way to r4... and it was horrible... so if you expect to get a free ride, you better have lots of $$$$ and high ranked friends or it ain't gonna happen buddy

2]builds don't work unless you have the right skills... could you imagine an HB monk without oh lets say,,, infuse? you would epic phail against spikes.
3] rank DOES have something to do with HA experience... go figure...
4]its called an unranked group... i know they are practically extinct so you MIGHT have to go out on a limb and make one? or make a friend... for once... in your life...
5] personally i find it utterly pathetic that you are that emotionally attatched to a guild that you can't move on.... pls go back to preschool where everyone was besties 4 lyfe
6]it doesn't kill HA for newcomers it just gives them realistic expectations of what HA is like... if you think everyone there is a powderpuff ball just waiting to be pushed aside like all those margonites from pveland, you're sadly mistaken

I agree with r3 being *most likely* better than r0, but the difference between r3 and above is marginal at best, provided the r3 didn't HWay his rank, and if he did, what's to prevent him from HWaying r8?

On topic: Creating an unranked HA won't solve any problems, but I guess it wouldn't be too bad for practice (if you mean like an unrated GvG). But really if you're seriously interested in getting into PvP I'd say you might be better off in a different arena. GvG is quite fun, and since you'd be with your guild you wouldn't have to deal with many idiots. RA/AB/CM aren't really considered serious PvP, but you can join in with ease (sometimes you have to deal with idiots though) and it can be a nice way to meet people.

1) put all these builds in your template folder for a start, load and read them, see which one you can run, learn the build.
2) read some good tips, here is one for a start.
3) don't pm ranked group, it will only make you hate HA. look for unranked, random group, get a feel of what its like in HA, if anything, its not like what we do in PvE where you have control over almost everything, like take a rest before your energy get back up, et cetera, you also will be confuse as to who are your target. lots of things you have to get use to and and then there's the switching weapons in different occassion, learning what 8 other players are doing, and why suddenly your energy can't go up, or suddenly your dead.
4) if you cannot run or have skills still locked, it does look very bad. one would start wander if you have all the add on and runes unlocked as well? and can you bring all the weapons sets required? et cetera
5) i am actually not the one to give you pointers, you may do so in the noobie in HA thread, i find most of the advise and tips are very useful.
lastly, sorry this has to be an /unsigned
like you once, i hope there are unranked HA but like many above have stated, it will only be bad players that have absolutely no idea what they are doing fighting against each other.
I am quite fortunate, as I have been in ranked group, and believe me ranked group is all about organised, working together, and the caller knows every map that are loaded and usually will tell the rest of the group what to do on different maps. and have to know all the strategy. and which teammate have to take care of which opponent.

Ranks in the long run don't mean nothing i know plenty of 3 year experienced players who dnt have rank 3 but you really can not blame a high ranker only wanting to team with other high rankers.... if you want to do HA and your a low rank the 'Only' way to succeed is to find or start a beginners HA guild there are plenty advertising on guru my advice search the pvp guild forum. Or get a new HA alliance.
Oh and
/notsigned it really would be a 8 man RA

I no longer have respect for high ranking players unless I know who they are and can verify. I've seen far too many r9+ noobs with obviously bought accounts.

Unranked HA? It's called RA.

I was r1 before the weekend and r3 now, one of the things that really helpt me getting into pugs was my glad title (r2)
I met alot of friendly r3/r4 people and they still ask me for HA.
Another tip i could give you (preparing to be flamed), run hway
its the teambuild that gives the most chance with a unranked group and is the easiest to farm the first lvl (uw)
A last tip: don't start with pvp doing HA (unless you have some ranked friends, that can get you into groups) start with ra get glad 1 and do some gimmicky build during double weekend, most unranked groups won't rage quit so you can farm the first 1-3 lvls pretty quick and easy

Although I agree that a lot of players mistakingly equate rank with skill, I think an unranked HA will just kill the fun in HA all together.

71.4% of the people who think rank is completely meaningless also think that team builds are overrated and 1v1 builds is the way to go for succeeding in HA.
65.8% of unranked monks believe they are as good as r12 monks in terms of play ability and knowledge of HA, but when confronted with "how do you open the gates in antechambers" none of them knew the answer.

First Don't flame about being a PvP noob and dont make this thread, you can always join r3 groups, those are kind and dont care if you have know rank, even when I have a r8 title WE ALL STARTED OUT AS NUBS AND HAD TO GET UP THROUGH RUNNING SWAY (at one point in time)etc. So do not come making a thread and flaming that ranks arent important. Ill tell you sumthing try running rspike rangers r3+ (rangers can be good) but the difference in rank can be seen through the monks, the r3 monks will not know how to infuse, will not have vent, and will not know the buidls and keep asking for them. However, in r8+ WHILE the frontline may be the same just bashing and hacking (smart frontline will bodyblock) the midline and backline will BE O SO different from r3 groups! Ill tell you what Ive been almost every type of group. r3 sometimes are excellent and get you to halls but most of the time the monks PLAIN SUCK, r6 groups are okay they don't know how to bodyblock, not too good at calling, and dont like using vent. R9+ groups are very picky but are nice if you get used to it, they expect you to get a build when they ping it and get on vent fast (which shuld not be a problem if you have played pvp many times), I sometimes run with r10-12+ and I just don't like them because they like to swear on vent, and enjoy DISBANDING AFTER one run. SO yep, thats all their is, don't flame AND MAKE UR WAY UP THROUGH R3, THEN GRADUALLY GET BETTER, PVP IS LIKE PVE it requires DEDICATION, you cant just go in without any sort of title and join a group JUST LIKE DOA IN PVE U CANT WALK IN AND RUN URSANWAY WITH PROS WITH HAVING A HIGH NORN RANK!!!!!!

RA to learn that PvP is different form PvE
Learn The crap gimmick meta HWay, beacuse it's easy and your best chance of getting a group
Make friends.
Practice
Once your rank is higher, you've unlocked more skills, and you've learn the maps and basics of HA, move n to better builds and really win. You can't walk in at "zero" fame and think your going to win HoH.
Nothing is going to get handed to you in PvP you have to earn it, sort of, with time and effort, not by QQing that things are unfair.

2. Don't encourage bad players to gain thier rank through playing crap builds..the end results is a rank 3 player with as much skill as a rankless player.
3. Your return key is broken.
