Raven's Point

I searched the forums, and looked at the wiki, and now I am here.

I have the Shadows in the Night quest from Hogni Truthseeker.

I can see on my map that the little green splat for the quest is to the right, and down a little. But when I get there, and go through the portal, the portal that says Varajar Fells, I go right back to where I started, and the green splat is now off to the left of where Hogni stands, and I do NOT know how to get there.

Help please!

Edit - I cannot even GET to Raven's Point - I seem to be stuck in some kind of loop.

I don't know what you're talking about; you go into Raven's Point, kill the Shadow Spawn, and go back to get your quest reward. You don't really need to follow the quest markers.

You have to speak to Xapp, outside the Dungeon entrance.

The wiki page you posted says that.

Okay, let's say I am standing there looking at Hogni, right?

In the mission/quest log, I make sure Shadows in the Night is highlighted. I check my Mission Map, and I see the green splat that tells me "Hey, come over here for this quest!". Looking at that map, it is to the right. So I head out. Over snowdrifts, killing groups of mandragor as necessary. I can see on my mission map that I am getting close to a res shrine. Once I get there, where the green quest marker is, it seems to be pointing to a portal. Okay...

So I go through the portal, and it throws me about one inch down the mission map, and now the frickin' quest marker has shifted all the way on the other side of Hogni's place, to the left of him, in yet-to-be-exposed frozen tundra! It has done this to me three times now.

How the Sam Hill do I get to Raven's Point???
