I just got platinum edition and before i start i want to know what type of char i hsould go for, basically i want to be a fighter, someone said i should go monk/fighter as well since it'd be invincible with healing. how would i do that? start out as a monk or warrior ? what lvl should i multi class

also, what are some things i should go into this game knowing, like some good spots / good quests to do, and what are some good mods i should get?

Never listen to anything the guy who told you to be a monk/warrior primary to be "invincible with healing" ever again.
If you want to be a fighting class, warrior is suited for you. They also have two decent self heals that I can think of, one of which will be available for you early on.
You also have to choose a secondary class to advance in the story, but don't worry, you could run a full warrior skillbar if you wanted to, and you dont have to spec any attribute points into your secondary if you don't want to.
Later on in the game you'll be able to switch your secondary for more skill bar possibilities.
Oh, and in the beginning, do all the quests you can because you get free skills for doing easy quests.

alright thanks, is there a list of these quests?

and gotcha about the monk/warrior bit. Can you suggest any class I should go double with? I don't really want to go away from melee, just want to be a tank, anything that could help that or boost my defense etc would be nice, but I don't want to go away from being a melee fighter.

Go monk or assassin if you want to solo farm alot
Go ranger or mesmer if you perfer interupt others' actions and cause degeneration.
Go necro if you like to play an all arounder
Go warrior if you perfer cool weapons or fight at the front line
Never go paragon imo, but you might like it, who knows.

^Pretty sure that person is talking about primary professions, not secondary.
You can tank with just warrior skills decently, but try not to devote your whole bar to just that.
I know there are Physical and Elemental Resistances in the mesmer class that may help in certain situations.. but you'd need to carry both to really have yourself completely covered, so I dunno if it'd be worth it.
If you have decent monks and a half decent build, you'll be fine in most areas of PvE.

That's a list of quests that have skills as rewards, do these especially if you're new, as you'll be unlocking skills you may need in the future.
Oh, and I'd save the guildwiki link somewhere, it'll be your best friend if you ever need say, a map to a boss for an elite skill you need to cap or a walkthrough for a mission.

Heh, dont worry about it. My first character in GW was a W/E, I ran around with an awesome-sauce gash/sever artery/flare/firestorm build wreaking havoc all over Tyria :S

GW isn't your normal "mmo" (and I use the term mmo loosely), warriors don't tank, they are the highest sustained dps class in the game. Elementalists and Assassin's can spike for more damage but warriors can sustain it and that is what you should focus on.

partly right. In some of the more advanced areas such as the deep/urgoz W are indeed used for tanking, tho most seem to be under the impression they're tanks like this everywhere including pvp lol

W 'can' be tanks but tbh its not very viable in the most of guild wars, like i said, only elite areas and boss fights really need a tank, the rest of the time W are expected to bring damage, yet new players always fall into the trap of thinking W=tank when infact W=sustained dmg dealer/part time tank

Dont worry too much about your first choice as you can change it later in the game if you're not happy with it. (secondary, no primary that is...)

But don't panic if you make a choice that you regret. You have four character slots and no penalty for character deletion. (Although you should be aware of annual creation date gifts for each character.)

A warrior is great fun (my main character) and your secondary will not matter that much until further along in the game. I chose Ranger which worked out well.

Hello and welcome to the game. Above are posted links to your GW "bibles", which you'll probably find quite useful in your endeavors in the game. From the sounds of it, Warrior would be the class to suit you. Give the wikis a browse and you can choose based on the information for each class.

Thansk alot, checking those links out.

I've decided to try warrior monk then if i don like it, something else.

one more thing, 'reusable resurrect' , when do i get this ? or how do i get this? and will this work on anyone or just me ?

Resurrect works on other people, not you. It helps to have one when the rest of your group, whether real people or henchmen, are all dead.

If you are dead, and no henchman has a usable resurrect, the whole party will reappear at a Resurrection Shrine.

LOL! You clearly know nothing about playing paragons, they are arguably the best PVE class.

Hi, welcome to Guild Wars Guru!

Read around the various websits (Official GW or Wiki). Asking here will just get you arguements for just about all of the professions. Also use search as this question has been asked many many times already.
