Dunes of Despair Help
Nosveratau
Arrrg, yes this mission has certainly got me in despair, the mission itself is easy, but the Bonus I just cant get, have done this mission 8 times now and just can not get the bonus. I have tried the following methods. Please note this is a full Henchman Team only.
1) Get Ghost to start ritual to start timer, kill first group with general, run back defend ghost, kill second group, run back defend ghost, kill third group, time runs out before bonus is complete.
2) Get ghost to start ritual to start timer, rush the generals, ghost dies before I can kill third general.
I have tried different variations of the above, just cant seem to kill third general before the time runs out or ghost dies.
Any help is appreciated.
Cheers

There are a few ways that you can do this:
Plan A
Have a Necro/Monk or a Monk/Necro in your party that has both Necrotic Transversal and Rebirth equipped on their skill bar. All party members *MUST* have a Vampiric Weapon to equip as well. Prepare for Heroes by carrying extra Vamp weapons in your inventory for each Hero.
When you get to the area with the Altar, talk to the friendly Ghostly Hero so that he stays put (you don't want him capping the Altar while you pull this little stunt). Kill the enemy Ghostly, but leave your friendly Ghostly back so that he doesn't use Claim Resource and start the timer to end the mission. Either kill one of the Siege Wurms, or their should be a corpse outside of the Altar area within available range. Have your N/Mo or Mo/N use Necrotic Transversal, which will teleport them to a random corpse in range - the only corpse available being the one outside the wall. At this point, all people in your party (and you for all of your Heroes) need to equip your Vampiric Weapons and NOT HEAL. SUICIDE. Then the Mo/N or N/Mo uses Rebirth to pull you to the outside of the wall, you go and kill the Generals in your own time and it's all good. You might have to finish the Mission separately since once you are on the outside, you can't get back in without another corpse in range on the inside.
PLAN B
Have a group that can split 4/2. The 4-person group needs a Healer, as does the 2-person group. The 2-person group stays with the friendly Ghostly, keeping him alive at all costs while the 4-person group goes and takes out the Generals. It's tough, but absolutely do-able (this is how I got both Mission and Bonus in 1 run on my main).
PLAN C
Say "Screw It!" and keep working on other Missions/Bonuses until you have the patience to give it another try.
Hope this helped!

Run way out of radar range and then unflag ur heros and magically they make it across the impassable chasm without a scratch.

1.- Following Tyrale's advice, this mission is perfectly henchable by that method.
2.- The thing is, henchies and heroes are ub3r l33t and can access restricted areas to reach you/your corpse. So in this mission, go as secondary necromancer and take Necrotic Trasversal skill. Kill the first general (sometimes pullable from the south wall, sometimes you have to restart), transport to it's corpse. Flag h/h in the little cliff.
3.- Then, stick to the left board of the wall. Go north untill you no longer see henchies in radar. This will prevent Jade scarabs spawns.
4.- Unflag them. Watch them comitting h4x.
5.- ????
6.- PROFIT!!!!

You just need one monk that doesn't suck with a decent bar to do it. I believe even a Life Barrier/Bond monk with a healing skill will work.
If you don't have heroes or can't find someone to keep the ghostly alive, then just go /N for Necrotic Traversal, and teleport the henches over.
It is also possible to do this mission by running back and forth defending the hero and killing the generals, but it can be quite difficult. Very quick search turned up this post:

and I'm sure others have had similar success, and posted.

Tyrael's plan A has two optional different ways.
Alf71BE already told you one, the flag trick.
The other way is by taking 4 heroes (if you have access to them) and stick necrotic traversal or consume corpse on them.
There are enough Jade Scarabs around to get an entire party to the bonus area. No need to wait for ages for the vamp weapon to kill the heroes that way.
MisterB is right on the split, one decent monk can easily defend the Ghostly in Normal Mode.
However, this requires a second human player, I would not trust a hero monk with it.
I think when you have the choice go for the split option.
It's the more fun way (at least, for me) and doesn't depend on the right boss to spawn at the right place or some Jade Scarab to be in range.
I know players had to restart several times before they had a right start, a split team would have finished way before that.

Secondary necro & use necrotic traversal is by far the best bet. I've tried the other ways and while they do work traversal/rebirth is by far the most comfortable way to do it as once you are across you have as much time as you like to kill/map/cap skills.
As stated above you may need to restart the mission a couple of times to get the boss to spawn close enough that you can aggro him, but as long as he is there you are pretty much sorted and the Ghostly Hero is never under threat of attack.

Hi All
Thanks for the replys but as I said, I am only using Henchmen and myself, no heroes. If I made myself as Necro Seconday, would using Necrotic Trasversal work for the whole group?
Cheers

Nos Just as duckboy said, after getting yourself across the wall, flag your henchies away and/or walk away from them until they are well off the radar then unflag them -- they will "magically" come running back to you. You can use the same "trick" on the Aurora Glade mission.

I 100% will guarentee you this will work.
Use Con Set and at last 2 minutes exactly or 2:30ish zerg rush the 3 generals. The last 2 minutes do not spawn monsters.
Make sure you are using a Soul Bind Necro and other hex necros with a Ele or 2 in there that are Searing Flame.
You can also kill the first general sometimes without ticking the timer, but IMO this is a lot of headache work along with doing the teleporting across the bridge. The way I did it which is how i just explained it works effectively on the first try or 2nd. You can do it without a Con Set also, but this is what i meant by a 2nd try because that monk Boss is extremely annoying and can heal himself if dmg output is not there.
I recommend doing this build.
1 Headbutt Warrior with standard sword skills and plague touch of course...
1 Soul Bind Necro with Defile Flesh and Rip Enchantment and w/e else you want
1 SS Necro with Insidious because the monk boss does wand you
1 Ursan or Another Warrior (NOTE: I did the bonus before the ursan nerf)
2x N/Rt Healers (they supply way better heals than regular monk heroes and supply extra dmg with the weapon heals)
You can mod the hex necro bars with secondary hex removal if you want because I think there is a necro boss that has faintheartedness and if you are not using ursan.

Hi All
Finally got my bonus using my henchmen, took 14 trys (Just to get a bonus, lol), eventually just rushed the generals and managed to kill them before the ghost died. Tried the Necrotic Transversal I ported over to the dead Scarab, flagged my henchmen, walked away from them until they were no longer on my radar screen, unflagged them and well nothing, tried several different positions and stuff, still couldnt get my Henchmen group to me.
Have no idea how I am going to eventually do this on HM.
Cheers

Nos I managed it in HM by using the necrotic Traversal trick and then I went as far south as I could and flagged the hench to my position and they eventually appeared on my side. They didn't seem to wanna come until I flagged them to my position. Not sure why that would matter but it did.

Bah,
24/25 guardian - took 3 tries, just [necrotic traversal] on me and my 3 heros (disabled of course), and made sure to disable summons after killing boss. Cake then (2 runs of course - completed once, back for bonus).
