Skill Change History
Shursh
I apologize ahead of time if this is in the wrong section...
Is there an option in game or on GW wiki/guru to see the history of changes to a skill? (for example, original spec of shadow form, and all the changes made to it since it's inception. or the original spec of soul reaping, and all the changes to it over time)
I've been playing GW's for about 6 months now and I often find myself wishing I knew the history behind certain skills, attribute lines, etc. without having to read 3 years worth of update threads on GWwiki.
if anyone knows how i might quickly find such a list of skill revisions i would really appreciate it.

While you can look at previous edit revisions on the wiki, its certainly not a very clear method of seeing previous skill changes.
It would be good if they actually had a history sub page with all the versions of a skill and the date it changed.

Wish there was, I haven't found anything of the sort.

but unfortunately, they didnt do that with all the skills
im not sure if someone has done this or not for all skills on an off-site or not
i would be interested to see such a thing as well

Interesting. I think, though, there could be a wiki project for skill histories, but I'm not sure.

thanks for the responses - that Mark of Rogdort page is exactly what i'm interested in seeing for every skill. if i were any good at editing and page formatting, i'd go on GWwiki myself and do it lol.
it could even be taken a step further and could have notes below each revision stating the reason for the changes - i think this would give many newer players like myself a bit more visibility on the evolution of the game, and the direction it is headed currently.

well we could start with the skills when they were in the prima guide

I think Anet would rather people not know or remember what certain skills were before they were made into either sub-par, irritating to use, or complete heaping piles of crap.
As far as the buffs, yeah I would like to see that.

I've often wished there were skill histories available, but I don't think there are.

I wanted such a resource myself a couple times.
You can look at edit history of skill pages on wiki, but it's not a very far-reaching history (official wiki dates back only to 2007 IIRC) and not a very convenient way either.

Ive been pining after a resource like this for aaaaaaaages. T'would be pretty awesome if someone put one together. There mustve been hundreds of skill revisions so I guess it would be a pretty big project.

I'd certainly appreciate the opportunity to look over how Ritualist spirits worked before the nerf; I've quite forgotten by this point

I asked this question quite recently and was directed towards the Wiki changes pages.

However that Skill History wiki page that snaek posted is a lot more like what I was after. Shame it isn't done for all the skills.
I think it would be interesting to see how skills have progressed over the history of the game and why and how some things were changed when they were.
If we can find a source for the info then I'd be happy to help getting it into a useable format.

Well, when I first started playing GWs, I printed out all of the skills and made a nice little book that I could read when I was out and about (I always did this with games). But then a whole bunch of unexpected skill changes happened and I saw that I just wasted a whole bunch of ink.
So then I just copied some into files onto my computer, but didn’t print them out. Therefore, I could read the skills even whenever guildwiki chugged too much to open. However, the last update I did was one year ago. I still use this as a comparison to see how much things have changed, but I was recently thinking that I should make backups into word docks more often. It would be helpful to do this due to the fact that guildwiki chugs so much that I can get a bit frustrated at how long it takes to open, especially during events like Elite Skill Capture Weekend.
Anyway, that is all I can recommend. Back up all of these skills onto word docs and make new ones every time there is an update. At least you would have all of the changes then and no one could erase them or take them away.

Try Google. Some sites have not updated their information. Gameamps' seems slightly outdated.
