Question about the hero's handbook

the only other thing i can think of is that you have a hard mode book instead of a normal mode book but when i get home from work i am going to do a quest without my book and then get my book and go to the guy and see what happens

Normally, no you don't have to redo them. You should have gotten the option to pay the 100g per page from the NPC. I don't know why you didn't, but perhaps it has something to do with the fact that you did all of the quests? I don't think it matters which NPC you talk to, but every time I did it, I think it was the guy in EotN outpost I talked to.
I'm 99% sure it doesn't matter whether or not you don't have a book, or simply didn't have it with you either. I don't know what to tell ya.

No, what i have in my inventory is NM handbook and thats why the book NPC showed me the options to let me pick up an HM handbook.( if you already have a HM handbook in your inventory they wont offer you the extra book!) But anyway thank you so much for your help!

Well, could someone put a screen shoot of buying those quests form the book NPC? I would like to see that option which I cant get for my char. Thanks a bunch here!

Did you try deleting your book (Or putting it in storage) and getting a new book then asking?

Once you have done those 5 quests. They are in each and every book and you can't even buy them. They just appear automatically.

The OTHER ones are able to be bought if you left your book in storage or something.

I definitely tried that.... Didn't work!

Well, I knew that, i just want to buy the other 11 repeatable quests. Those 5 quests are NON repeatable so there is no way you can redo them!

Step 1. Do a quest without book.
Step 2. Notice you didn't have book.
Step 3. Go to bookgiver (Doesn't matter which faction as long as you can still get the book. For example. If you are r10 norn. You cannot get a NM book from Tyr in Gunnar's Hold. But you can get one from the Asura.

Step 5. http://members.cox.net/spamkumu/GuildWars%20/gw010.jpg - Click on "I would like an Empty Hero's Handbook".

Step 7. http://members.cox.net/spamkumu/GuildWars%20/gw012.jpg - Talk to him again and again click on "Written Evidence"
Step 8. http://members.cox.net/spamkumu/GuildWars%20/gw013.jpg - Pay the 100g (Or more if you did more quests).

If the above steps don't work. You either didn't do the quests, or you are trying to get a book from a faction that you can't turn in a NM book to. (You already have level 8 in that faction)

Well, here is the story:

I did the quest "against the charr" without carrying the book.

Went to eye of the north, and got a NM hero's handbook from Gedrel of Ascalon.(btw, my Ebon Vangard rank is only 5)


And YEAH, this time he did give me the option to buy that quest for my book for 100g.


BUT.. that still means if I want to fill all pages of my book I have to REDO all the repeatable primary quests!!



My Ele have beaten the EtON, so I definitely did all the PRIMARY quests. And my rank of Ebon Vangaurd is only 5. How could you explain that???!!!

I showed you how to add a quest to the book. If he only added that one quest. Then that is the only quest you did without a book. You will have to do the rest to finish the book.

You misunderstood my statement. I said that if the steps above didn't allow you to buy pages in your book then you either didn't do the quest or you were talking to a book guy that you cannot turn in a book for. You cannot turn in a NM book to the book guy with a faction that you already have rank 8.

Not that you will have rank 8 by finishing EotN. You could finish with very little reputation.

Hm..I think you misunderstood me here...Since you told me if I cant buy pages for my book, then there are only 2 reasons for that: 1) I didnt do those quests. 2) My rank is over 8, I cant get points from NM handbook anymore. Thats why I was trying to tell you 1) MY ele have beaten the EtoN, so there is no reason that I haven't done any primary quests yet. 2) My Ebon Vagaurd rank is only 5, and the book NPC I asked is Gedrel of Ascalon who will give you the reputation points of vanguard. So I still can get points from the NM handbook. (well, my other ranks are 9 now thats why I only ask hime to get my normal mode handbook)

And since I just realized there is a hero's handbook in the game after I beat the whole game, so technically I have done all the quests without the book!


So my question still is:

WHY THE HELL I CANT BUY PAGES FOR MY HERO's HANDBOOK?

You have r9 in your other reputations but you have yet to hand in a completed hero handbook in NM? Sounds fishy...you 100% sure that you didnt already complete a hero handbook for those other reps you got 9 in?

Well, thats easy to explain..

Raptors farming ----> easy Asura points--->rank 9

Spectral Vaetirrs Farming----> easy Norn points---> rank 9

Dungeon chest farming -----> easy Deldrimor points-----> rank 9 Don't doubt about that cuz I like farming, i have around 25 million exp and 1407 skill points in this single char. Most came from solo farming!

Nothing to farm in charr land------> only rank 5 of Ebon Vanguard now

And i might be so dumb that I just found out its a very easy way to earn points using hero's handbook, so I decided to use it to get my vangard rank a little higher!

Still sounds fishy?

In that case all i can suggest is you just repeat the book again and hand it in...ive done it several times for both NM and HM to max my titles so it really isnt that bad at all.

Make sure you have your book in your inventory...Then talk to the guy and click on written evidence. Then he will "look" at your book and say he noticed you are missing some. Would you like to add them for 100gp? Oh yeah make sure you have some gold on you as well....Going to check and see if this is right lol

Just re-do the quests. In Normal mode you should stomp all over it in about an hour.

I exactly did that, he did "look" at my book and told me I haven't fill the halfway of the book, so he refused to take my book and give me the reputation points.( yeah, I only unlocked 5 non-repeatable primary quests at the moment thats why I need to buy those dam quests which I have done without carrying the book.) And unfortunately he NEVER noticed that I was missing some and will let me buy them for 100g each!

well either:
a] you didnt finish eotn (which I find pretty likely as you seem to have no idea whats going on)
b] you totally fail at reading.
or c] you have discovered a bug that hasnt reportedly affected anyone else.

Redo all the 11 repeatable primary quests in about an hour, how could you do that? I just redid the "against the charr" and " blood washes blood" quests, which took me almost an hour. And actually those 2 might be the easiest one among those 11 quests. Some of them need you to run though a whole 3-level dungeon.

I still want to figure out what happened to me! There must be some tricks I didnt know yet.... I dont believe thats just a game bug on me!!!
