Torture Test
Painbringer
I got a weird error message loading GW last week. It was not a standard coded one you normally see. It was a pop up window showing a log of a lot of memory numbers and other info like IP address etc…basically it said a memory error occurred enter your e-mail address and send log. To myself I was like I am not sending anything till I know for sure it was from A-net. I cancelled out of it reloaded and played on. I sent a ticket to ask if it was a normal error message or not. They replied asking me to run a Prime95 overclocking torture test and run it overnight. My system is a factory built system from 05. Can this do harm to it? I am not a pixel freak so I really do not push my system too hard ever.

For safety precautions, please do not enter your email into that error box. I have never heard of it and I do believe that A-Net has stated that they will never ask for your E-Mail or Password.
I think A-Net may have told you to run the test to check if your system has any errors, but if it was memory related errors one would probably look to Memtest for that.
Ignore it all, if you keep getting these errors then let us know.. but be safe and never enter your email into that, it sounds like a load of junk to me, A-Net does not need your email for you to send a report about a crash, they would most likely automatically retrieve such information and in any case your email is useless as far as crash report information goes.
Oh and also, it might help to show us a screenshot of this little error box. I think in a hypothetical situation someone could be wanting to know your E-Mail due to the new system that does not specify what login information you mis-entered, so people could be wanting to know emails so they can brute passwords from there-on, because asking for a password directly would be too obvious. It's just hypothetical though, not trying to scare anyone by saying that.. just a random thought.
Again I am not sure of the legitimacy of this error dialogue so I wouldn't trust it myself, sorry if I am wrong and it was legit though beforehand.

I had a popup last week that said something along the lines of
"My signup to friends had expired and I should fill in my password "my account address was already filled in".
I just closed and rebooted it seemed safer and easier somehow.

Ah you must mean the in game friends-list deal where you get Disconnected from the friends-list server. I usually just reconnected in game because that has happened for ages and since it's in game it's safe, though a lot of people have negative feelings for it which is completely understandable.
I also forgot to ask Painbringer, was the message one from Windows or..?

Thanks… I was thinking the same thing why would they need it. It could be legit and may be part of the diagnostic tool they added, but who knows better safe then sorry. Only other thing I can think of it being an internal factory installed program to send error messages to (e-machine big fix) gateway. Again better safe than sorry

In 3 years of playing, GW has severely crashed 2 or 3 times, showing the kind of box he is talking about. It was pretty much like the well known Windows Xp "Send a report " stuff...
It does not look like any box of GW 'cause it appeared after the crash of the application. So it looks like a normal box of the operating system. By the way, the detailed info shows a bunch of memory adresses...
I have always hated the Microsoft thing so I have had the same reaction : closing the box, except the first time maybe. If I remember well, it creates an attachment file to be sent to Anet... But I am not sure of remembering well...
And anyway, the "never give you email" policy is the best one.

Zepolak, always send the error reports; it will get those crash issues fixed faster.

Prime95 torture test will analyze both your memory and CPU for degradation errors or even erratum errors.
It is safe to use, because if your system is stable, it will run without issue. If your system isn't stable, it will crash the system.

I might just get that and run it myself for the hell of it.
