Spearsin?

I've been playing around with sins a lot lately, and I was trying to come up with a somewhat viable Spear-using assassin build. This is what I came up with so far:

[build=OwliMylMxg9gBkRkdmtIq/IAAA]
Critstrikes 12+1+1.

Anyone got any improvements/suggestions? I was playing around with [vicious attack] but I found that [spear of lightning] pumps out more damage and you already have [cruel spear] for Deep Wound. The build usually hits around a 50, and can hit around 90 with [cruel spear] on a crit. Also, in AB I switch the [resurrection signet] to [dash].

Anyone got anything for me? I know that overall the concept is inferior to, say, critscythe, but the fact that it's ranged and it's fun is why I like it.

Looks fun. I sorta wish the variant with [[Way of the Assassin] was still viable.

Personally, for PvE, I might try to swap out [[Cruel Spear] and [[Spear of Lightning] with [[Stunning Strike] and [[Vicious Attack]. It might also be a good idea then to swap out Assassin's Remedy or the Res for [[Critical Defenses] or [[Critical Agility].

If you want a fun A/P build for ra/ab you should try [dark apostasy] once. The energy loss is negated thanks to crit strikes and crit eye and it's pretty amusing to strip enchs that easily while keeping a decent dps.

Hmm looks interesting, I'll have to give it a shot. Energy loss does seem a bit much tho tbh

Needs more Vicious Attack. In my opinion, you can also use Wearying Throw for some big domage too.

So put in Vicious Attack for Spear of Lightning and Wearying Spear for Barbed Spear? Only thing with that is that I don't have a definite condition for the interrupt. Should I scrap the interrupt?

Lastly, I'm surprised this actually is half viable lol

Disrupting Throw is quite a sub-par interrupt. At full range you can only reflex 2 second casts. Barbed is only good for fueling certain things: D/P Blindbot for spammability, R/P condition pressure, powering Maiming Spear, powering Stunning Strike.

deep wound....followed by 1/2s attack skill for spike dmg?

and spear sins r not as strange as spear eles
their quite popular actually...(and sadly)

[swift javelin] is also a fairly popular critspear sin skill

i wouldnt recommend [cruel spear] or [stunning strike] on a sin
u already have dw on [vicious attack]
and [stunning strike] is pretty fail without an ias
(but fairly decent with one....which is why u see it on [flail] w/p's)

[Assassin's Remedy] combined with [Wearying Spear] makes a really great high dps hit. Very useful for an adrenaline chain-spike due to its low adrenaline cost.

Does Remedy remove the condition at the same attack (as in condition gets applied, Remedy registers a hit and removes a condition) or the next one?

Let's just say you use Wearying Spear.

With Remedy up, if you use Wearying Spear, the weakness won't be negated. If you follow up with something, the condition will be gone before the attack actually hits.

That's why it's such a powerful skill for combatting anti-melee conditions.

I've been discussing this to great length on PvX, and we've come up with a sort of new idea to bring in an IAS:
[build=OwliMylMBhFkRv1udmtIq/MBBA]

See the build's talk page: http://www.pvxwiki.com/wiki/Build_talk:A/P_Spear_Sin

it works pretty well.

I'm not against [Soldier's Fury] per se though [Can't touch this] is just really, really bad.

Choosing this over [Dark Apostasy] - [Swift Javelin]?

If you're really set on straight spike damage... pick up another weapon

[can't touch this] is purely to keep the IAS up. If you've got a better option (as in, easily cheaply maintainable), I'd be happy to use it.

A dark apostasy spear sin was tried out on PvX in the past but unfavored.

TBH, don't consider PvX advices too much.
DA+swift javelin is nice indeed, stripping enchants constantly will give better pressure than wearying +vicious.

That said, I see a problem with those 2.
Usually when you go spiking, you land the deep wound skill first and big damage after. But you can't, since you'll be weakened afterwards.

If you want pressure, there is no reason not to play a real para, which can keep a permanent IAS with no big downside, and bring utility.

so turbobusa is correct Assassins Remedy takes conditions off before the attack skill hits. There for big damage is easily obtained.

Vicious attack -> wearying strike -> Assassin's remedy triggers and removes some condition you had before -> You are weakened

Tested and verified.
