Beauty of Pre-Searing
dilan155
we all know pre-searing is probably one of the most beautiful places on GW
universe. I just made a ranger in 3 years in Proph, made everything else in
NF, and realized how beautiful it is. So i was wondering what are you favorite
places in pre-searing, what are you stories there? anyone treat you nice when
you were a noob here? share your stories and your memories.

I like the little secret area in their I forget what its called but I think you get in their from Regnet Valley
GaaaaaH
When i triend making my perma-pre, i found that people are generally still nice in pre, but i haven't had problems in post (apart from one attempted scammer). Once you leave the safety of noob buffer zone (pre), you get exposed to a wider variety of people...like the guy who ran around temple of bath asking for naked female ele dancers
Trenixz
i loved that little area in regent valley just off of fort ranik, it always seemed to have better graphics in there, even though you didn't have to go in there.

I also have a perma-pre that I play every now and then. Pre searing is fun for many different reasons. Here are a few:
1. You meet a lot of new players there, that haven't become jaded toward the game - their curiosity and newfound love of a game that I've enjoyed for years is refreshing.
2. Pre searing is also a lot more social - go to Ascalon dist 1 at any time of the day and you'll see tons of people just talking, and playing around and just getting familiar with the game. Of course there's always a few synchronized dance groups- those are always fun when you don't really feel like playing, but just want to relax and chat.
3. Another reason I enjoy Pre searing is because it's smaller - you can go anywhere in the area in just a few minutes. It's fun helping friends and new players find the different outposts and armor pieces.
4. Also, Pre searing has a totally different economy than post. A weapon or offhand that would be considered trash in post can be worth a fortune in pre.
5. It's easier to impress in pre. a few years ago when I had a level 14 ele with the great gold armor you could make with the old dye system new poeple often thought I was a NPC or some kind of elite player. The lvl 20 players there, with their black dyed armor, are often treated with reverence - of course the downside - they are constantly begged for gold, items, or help.
There are many other reasons to like Pre searing - I'm sure someone could add to the list and alternately, create a list of the negative aspects of pre searing.
1 up and 2 down

Basically love all of pre searing, the music is awesome lol.
The Red Messenger
i have had probably a dozen pre-only characters before i finally settled with my ranger. pre-searing is nice because of the music, the creatures that dont attack when you walk up to them (it would be nice if they incorporated this in some areas in post), and of course the scenery. i dont really have a favorite place
i wouldn't say the people are nicer, but are definately more sociable in pre.

Nick Of Troy
There is a particular place in the Northlands, just south of the Charr boss base, where the sunlight focus' into a spectacular beam. Looks amazing with high graphics, and an awesome background for screen shots.
Yang Whirlwind
I remember the feel of Pre when I first entered the game over 3 years ago - and the feel of loss when that picture perfect fantasy world was destroyed by the Charr. Arenanet really succeeded in creating a feel of "you are on your own in a cruel world" with the Post feel, after your easy fantasy start.
Nostalgia ... I really must be getting old!

I personally like the catacombs. I think they're fantastically designed.

Pre-searing reminds us of our inner nub. A time when we knew very little about the game and were tempted with its wonders. We return to try and recapture our old lust for the game in some way. It represents a certain innocence in both the story line and the people who choose to remain there. It is really what makes Prophecies stand out among the other campaigns.

When I first played GW at a gaming cafe, I was just totally sold on the beauty of pre.
You can image the horror I felt after I saw it torn to pieces D:
And thus I was hooked onto Guild Wars.

Ahhh my noob days in pre-searing 34 months ago. lol. I actually still remember it when I first started playing. I asked everyone in town, "how do you save the game?" I got a black dye on my first day in and I remember selling 1 vial of black dye to the merchant. >_< lol... oops? I obviously didn't know what it was then. xD
upier
I kept getting lost and lost in the catacombs.
Then I ran into a friendly guy that helped me navigate around it a bit - and we kept on playing together. We later started a guild together - and he (just like my other guildies) is the reason why I could play this game on and on.
He moved onto WoW though (along with another guildy) - so this thread reminded me that I should drop him an email to catch up a bit.
Good times.

Pre-searing disappoints me to be honest. You look at the way they designed it, and how much they cared about what the game looked like...and since then it's as if they just gave up, as the game looks like ass in comparison. Whoever designed Pre-Searing should design all of GW2 if they want it not to look bad.

My favorite part of pre is Duke Barradin's Estate. I'd like to retire there and make wine.

I'm also (almost ^^) Legendary Cartographer. Need a few spots in Elona.
But I have to say I love all the areas except post-searing Ascalon, the entire Realm of Torment (well some of the castles are okay), and the desolation.
But pre is not only beautiful, it sparks up nostalgia. And that just adds to the enjoyment. I have a ranger perma-pre char for exactly that reason.
What first struck me in pre-searing, and bare in mind GW is my first MMO (GW2 will be my second lol), is the vastness of it all. Of course, pre is far from vast, but it was to me then. Walking around in a huge world, exploring, finding new outposts, fighting monsters, finding quests. It was all SO exciting, I was hooked instantly.
That feeling goes away after a while unfortunately, it did spark up again when Factions came out, but by the time NF came, I was able to go through the game much faster, and so by the time I got to Vabbi, I kinda was used to it already.
EotN brought back some of the pre-feeling in the Charr homelands, but not as much as I'd hoped.
Man, I hope GW2 is humongously vast with many many different landscapes and beautiful architecture of all sorts of cultures. I love the Canthan architecture, I even like Kaineng City, I love the treehuts in Maguuma (I bet that's the sort of place the Sylvari will live in) and I'd love to see cities in trees, huge towers etc. Multilevel buildings FTW! (I remember Dungeon Siege, loved the 3D buildings in that game).
...But that's another topic ^^

Oh...the music is so nice. It seems so long ago now.

My favourites places are... The Catacombs and any open area without monsters, like the little corner near Fort Ranik and many areas around the Northlands.
They should add an 'exploration' mode to be able to visit those areas without monsters and roleplay easier.

Pre-Searing beauty gets pwned by Charr Homeworld.

I can't begin to imagine how much dye I left on the ground because my inventory was full and I thought "Dye?! Why do I want dye?" LOL.
Of course now that I've played a few other characters through Pre, I've never gotten the dye drop that I did the first time.
Oh, and Pre is my favorite place. There's this river in Wizard's Folly where it's raining lightly and it's just so beautiful and peaceful. I'll just sit there and admire the scenery. I also like that little out of the way village in Wizard's Folly.
I remember being so taken in by Pre that Post was devastating. True it's a game, but having that much of an emotional reaction just proved that ARenaNet did their job.

Pre...Oh how I love pre.
I remember the day I stepped into pre. People were friendly and weren't leetists. The scenery was epic and lovely. Pre pretty much sucked me into GW.
My favorite area has to be the little dock next to Aidan's house. Some of my friends and me used to sit there for hours and just talk c:

im like... the only person that didnt like pre.. like.. at all. i found it slow, boring, and kinda stale tbqh, but it IS one of the prettiest places for sure, and i can see how that alone makes it fun. my fav starter zone is Shing Jea, for a lot of the social reasons said before, but overall, im a city kinda guy, so the woodsy thing isn't really for me in the first place :P
overall though, i agree, other than a few places in EotN, Vabbi, and some of my personal fav Canthan spots, pre is the most visually impressive parts of GWs...
.. which is kinda.. odd for it being the only good looking place in Proph imo lol.

If you ever need a guide in pre-Searing and see me online, just ask for a ride and I'll go back there and take you anywhere.

Thanks! Ill go look now.
I think I found it. I went through a cave and came upon a forest with some ponds and ruins of other buildings.
And why is it called Melandru's garden?
Trvth Jvstice
Moonlit Azure - That's the area I found. I think the area they call Melandru's Garden is the fountain area with the Melandru's Stalkers roaming about.

Oh
I've been to the statue many times. I'll go visit it now.

lol at high level players being treated with reverence. You wasted a crapload of time in a game. Whoopdeedoo.

Plus in pre you get frenzy healsig as your first warrior skills. What more do you need to know that it owns

I like all of Pre-Searing, but seem to spend most of my time in Green Hills County. It is fairly large, has some interesting areas and you can see quite a distance in places.
aaje vhanli
Pre bored me compared to the rest of the games. I think I prefer Cantha's landscapes and GW:EN's attention to detail.
