IMO the GW1 naming was confusing enough, i had a very tough time explaining it to people.
I say keep the "2" in the name.
Its important to separate generations to prevent confusions.
If the same naming was used, imagine if GW2 had like 4 chapters like GW1, there would be eight Guild Wars Somethings, an uninformed person would have a very tough time connecting all that, and this would probably deter them from purchasing the game if they find themselves in a store.
And id prefer GW2 to be just that, Guild Wars 2, no subtitle for the 'original', to clearly indicate that it is just that, and use subtitles for 'addons'.

I read a lot people content with it being identified as a sequel (Guild Wars 2) instead of adding a subtitle. I don't have problem with it, I just think it would be better marketing to give it a subtitle so that it would encourage new gamers to seek out the original games to appreciate the lore and the game itself.
Obviously Tyria is going to be radically different in new game. There were/are a lot great sights in other campaigns. Just too many really cool things to forget and appreciate having experienced it yourself.
I do agree with several people that Guild Wars 2 will likely get a subtitle much in the way Prophecies did after the game had been out for awhile.

I like the ones so far mentioned, Guild Wars: Primordus, Guild Wars: Age Of The Dragon and Guild Wars: Awakening.
Two from me:
Guild Wars II: Tyria
Guild Wars II: The Lich Queen (May suit an expansion if Livia is still knocking about with her Scepter)
And two non serious ones…
Guild Wars II: Crouching Charr, Hidden Dragon
Guild Wars 2: White Men Can Jump
