is the Skill Hunting title character or account based? If i wanted to get the title on my necro would i have to keep changing her secondary to cap the skills, or do the elites I've captured on other characters count?

I'm assuming that I have to keep changing her secondary, but i just wanted some clarification. I did look it up in the wiki, which said character, but it's been known to be slightly wrong so i though I'd double check with you guys.

It's character based.

Yup, it's character based. It's a real pain when you have to go up to Dradnought's Drift to get FoC, then almost all the way up again to get Punishing Shot, then almost all the way up again for Earth Shaker, etc.

Remember that some campaign specific skills are available to cap in EotN (assuming you have both campaigns) so that provides a better option in some circumstances.

Pamelf, just a few words of wisdom from someone who just finished this title this summer.

1. Make sure you have a Signet of Capture equipped.
2. Make sure you have the correct secondary profession equipped.
3. Do not forget to capture the skill before mapping out.

All errors that I made off and on. Bring a friend when you can; it gets very boring after a while. Especially when you're working on the random spawns in Prophecies.

And I wish you great luck and many green drops.

At first those 3 tips from Darcy seem pretty stupid, but seriously, keep all of them in mind. All of them happened to me when capping aswel. Multiple times

/facepalm

Man, if I had a nickel for ever time I did one (or both) of those when skill capping..... Well, I'd have a LOT of nickels. This is probably the best advice for skill capping ever.

Thanks heaps for those of you who posted the advice. I totally can imagine myself making those mistakes. Constant repetition seems to breed sillyness.

Very wise words. I've lost count of the times I've headed out without capsig, or wrong profession. Most memorable was having to hunt down Maw the Mountain Heart twice, since I only realised I was still R/E after I'd killed her the first time

And let me add to that.....make sure you don't already have the skill.

@Ryker - oh, so true. Maybe a #4 Do Not bang your head against the desk when you find you already have that skill.

@Pamelf - I used Mapping Out to keep track of which skills I had already captured. But you have to update after every cap. Putting it off usually means you forget some.

After a few times of going after a skill I already had, I made an elite skills check list. It's attached here. It's a word document. Just print it up and keep it handy. Check them off as you get them.

Hehe I'll try to keep not head banging in mind...

I do use mapping out. I love that program, but thanks for the checklist Commander Ryker, I'm sure it will definitely come in handy!

You guys have been just great!!!

Time for a lock?

GL with your title(s).

EDIT:
Don't know if it's been mentioned yet (blame the beers) but also make sure to check the wiki as to other boss locations of the same profession/nearby zones with bosses of the same profession. Two or more skill caps in one run are are awfully nice.

Last tip: if you're zoning from one explorable to another while capping, make sure your elite skills are in the correct order, so you don't lose the one you want to keep.

I made that mistake >.>

What do you mean by correct order? I just assumed that the new elite skill will always stay in the skill bar instead of the old one when I rezone. Is this because I always have my cap sig as the last thing on my bar? If I had it first thing would that mean that when i rezone I lose that skill instead of the one I had equipped in my build?

Yes. So keep the elite that you want to use to the right of your cap sig.

Thanks heaps for that. I really had no idea. I always just thought the new replaced the old.

It doesn't, because you can have 3 PvE skills in your bar at any one time, and Signets of Capture count as PvE skills. So if you cap three elites in one area, you'll have four elites once you've finished capping all of them - and when you rezone, you'll only retain the rightmost one. They remove all elites except one when you zone.

Sorry. I should've clarified better earlier. ^^

Yes, it does.

"Although a player may equip only one elite on their skill bar, using multiple Signets of Capture can allow the character to have multiple elites on their bar temporarily until they zone into another area. The elite skill rightmost on the skill bar will be retained. Note that Signet of Capture is a PvE skill, which limits it to a maximum of three signets per skill bar."

I've done all 3 as well, but I don't think anything can beat killing every mob in a zone only to realize that you never clicked that little "hard mode" button before leaving the outpost!
