Didn't know where to post this but i got a problem when playing guild wars. It happens mostly in gvg and it makes it very hard for me as a mesmer to interrupt even 1 second casts.
It can take ½ second extra or more for my skills to activate in gvg. I tried in isle of nameless and Random arena and i were able to interrupt most 1 second casts in there.
So is there anything in options you can change? Change the graphics somehow to remove the slow skill activation? Or anyone got an idea?
Got 5 mbit broadband btw.
Hope you can help because at the moment i can't play mesmer due to this
Long activation time

Well from my time spent in HA and GvG, usually people will recommend you turn your effects and graphics from best quality to Fastest so that the atmosphere wont wreak havoc on your computer and, in turn, your playing style. When you go into Isle or RA you're experiencing much less casting from opponents and less players in general. That's why most people lag pretty hard at the loading stage of AB and when the opposing team comes onto their screen
Other than that, just make sure that Guild Wars is the only thing running on your desktop (if possible) so that other programs won't be running along with it.
Basically, it's just little things like that that can help improve the game's running speed, which is causing your casting lag
Good luck to ya.
There's no reason to bold everything. Most people find that obnoxious. Thanks, Katsumi.

It's highly likely that your problem in the skill activation time, but rather in your ping. Assuming you do not have it disabled, you can look in the bottom-right corner of the screen at the little colored circle. What is important with the ping is that you will have your ping's worth of delay between when you tell the game to take an action and when the game registers it. For example, if you have a ping of 300ms and are interrupting with a 1/4 casting time (250ms) then the total time to use an interrupt is essentially 550ms. It is therefore impossible to "reflex interrupt" any spell whose casting time is less than 550ms, although it is still possible to anticipate and interrupt spells than have shorter casting times.
Ping is tricky with interrupts, and unless you have an extremely stable connection the problems continue. Your ping fluctuates over time, so getting used to how long your interrupt really takes to function (which is essentially for anticipating) is obviously difficult if the time keeps changing. There are a few things, however, that you can do to lower your ping:
1) Turn down your graphics settings
2) Turn down the sound quality (minimal difference)
3) Close other programs

Seems like lowering graphics helped some. I went from 60 fps to 200+
Lets hope it stays good.
thx for replies

Know it's probably a bit late and you probably won't need this to be said anyway, but, Fast Casting, when it's on 15, (which I have mine on if i choose to mes.) I usually find i've interrupted a spell before i've clicked the skill, I think it brings 1/2 second casts down do about 1/8 or something, (just over 100ms if I'm correct) which including an average ping means a total of 300-500ms, makes it all a bit quicker , hope I havn't made a fool of myself with that but I'm just trying to help.

hehe well as a mesmer in gvg you usually have about 9-11 fast cast since it would be a waste to have more. I'm usually playing with 9 but ye ofc it goes faster with interrupting if you have fast cast 15 but the problem was that it takes me so long time to activate in the first place :/
