I don't have the time to use search atm. So I just want to know if a ranger or a mesmer is better overall in pve(going for r6 gwamm included)/pvp/farming/doing missions alone/ and which is used more with group builds for urgoz, deep, ect.. Also please don't post links to other links to other links from the search option. Thx

But you have time to make a thread?

And with all that time it is a matter of preference, neither are particularity better for PvE imo.

Well if your going for GWAMM you may as well rock the ranger and take advantage of the phoenix pet you will find hanging out in your HoM after you reach a certain rank in that title line.

also regardless of your choice be sure to make a canthan character and get yourself taken to lutgardis so you can hff till you reach the max survivor title.

I'd say that, in general, Rangers are better in PvE and Mesmers are better in PvP.

Well, if you want farming/soloing/getting into groups, go ranger. Mesmers are a whole lot of fun to play though, you just have to have more patience.

A well played Mesmer can do extremely well in PvE. However, the general view is that Mesmers don't work well in PvE, which isn't true at all when the person playing one knows what they're doing. I've got 24 PvE titles maxed on my Mesmer mainly using Heroes & Henchies, WITHOUT the use of ursan, buying runs, leeching, etc. (I don't have Drunkard, Sweet-tooth, or Party Animal titles yet.)

There are two big problems with how people view Mesmers. The first is that many people who have little or no experience with the class don't know how and what exactly it is that Mesmers DO. The other problem is that GW is saturated with a cookie-cutter mentality and people want to get things done as fast as possible. Some of the best things that Mesmers can bring to a party go unnoticed because of the lack of visuals regarding their spells (no flaming rocks falling from the sky). I did THK with a PUG (M & B)and afterwards the party leader PM'd me and said "I don't know what all you were doing, but I've never seen ANYONE running around casting spells as much as you were! Wanna join my guild?"

Rangers are very versatile and can fill many different rolls. BHA gives them excellent interrupting ability. Applying conditions is also something that Rangers can do very well. I don't play mine much, but I don't have too many troubles getting into groups for normal PvE play.

(I hope the OP has enough time to read all that )

neither are ridiculously good in pve, but rangers are more usefull for most of pve because they can benefit from orders and physical buffs in general.
both are ridiculously good in pvp.
edit: unless you wanna play cryway. then go mesmer.

You'll very likely end up getting sick of your main character class if investing enough time to achieve GWaMM. In that aspect, I think Ranger would be a better bet.

Correctly me if I'm wrong, but some of the most viable functions for Mesmers in PvP or PvE are - Hex shutdown (melee/caster), interruption, Illusionary Weapon spiking, Me/E shutdown/snare, Me/E nuking, energy denial, degeneration, CoP nuking, etc.

Some of the viable builds used by Rangers include: Dagger/axe/sword/hammer/scythe melee, spear chucking, interruption, shutdown (mostly via condition spamming), degen, trapping, spirit spamming, touching, thumping, beast mastering, splint barraging/incendiary arrow barraging, arrow spiking, etc.

As powerful as Mesmers are, I think choosing Ranger would open up more choices of things for you to try while getting that GWaMM.
