I dont know if this is where i should post this, but i could not find my dilemma on vents FAQs, whenever i turn on vent, the screen says contacting server and never changes and will not connect to any servers, so i dont know what the deal is.

did you check the server info, and are you connected to the internet?

Sounds like a firewall issue.
EDIT - I had my Windows Firewall disabled in XP, but thought I'd check Vista - it's enabled (Vista). Ventrilo is not on the list of allowed programs but it works anyway. So maybe you have some other firewall? (or XP?) (I didn't need to open any ports in my router either, btw.)
