Doppleganger Tricks?

Are there any tips, tricks, etc for a monk/mesmer to beat the doppleganger?

Also is there a bonus for beating it in a certain time or what?

backfire+healing breeze+life attunement backfire the dopple use breeze for health (the dopple wont use breeze) and let the dopple use life attune which will reduce his dmg output make sure you have several useless spells on your skillbar to let the dopple activate backfire with

It will use healing breeze, but not in certain situations. I cant remember, but its either while in melee or while at bow range...in one of them he doesn't use it but will if he is at the other range.

and just let him kill himself.

12 dom, backfire, empathy and lots of cheep (as in low energy) spells that dont hurt you directly, you can also equip an enchant and shatter enchant as they often up the enchants first. then you should be to stand there till he kills himself. If you take breeze up it first and quick, then empathy.

i did it REALLY easy just 2 days ago...i just used backfire on him, he killed himself with spells! I just brought like 4 or so smites and backfire, he used them and died

I beat the doppleganger using 3 of my chars all at lvl 4. for any monk primary or 2ndary, just bring VERY low hp (between 10 and 19) and a +1 mending, and prot spirit, with balths spirit. then bring your highest damage spell, and kill him with that .. he hits you for 1 no matter what you hit him for, and +1 mending doesn't really help him much, but it's a life saver for your 10hp. since you're mesmer, you could try that method and bring a bunch of smite skills and backfire.

And an FYI for the Doppelganger and healing breeze: he will only use breeze to counter health degen (phantasm, bleeding, poison, etc) and not for normal healing.

My monk doppelganger setup: breeze, smite, banish, and 4 or 5 useless maintained enchants (usually blessed aura, holy veil, etc .. just stuff that does no good) so he kills his energy regen and can't cast squat.

I personally only used Empathy, Shatter Enchantment, RoF, Pacifism, Essence Bond, backfire. Basicly I cast empathy, then Shatter enchantment, backfire, pacifism, Rof if I need life. Basicly just play D and watch him die.

I have only killed the Doppleganger twice. Once with my W/me and once with my Me/E. Both times I killed him in about 20-30 seconds. All you have to do is keep in mind that the Doppleganger has everything you have (plus maybe a bow), except....that it is AI. Just use that fact to your advantage.

With both characters I killed him using the skill set I had equiped for the last mission.

With my mesmer I let him use interupts on me on some fairrly low cost/dmg spells and then interupted his high cost/dmg spells. For example I let him interupt conjure phantasm and fireball, let him hit me with those, interupted his meteor and meteor shower, and hit him with the same...the fight was over in just over 20 seconds.

With my warrior I used a similar tactic. Interupted his Dwarven battle stance and let him interupt my heal sig (when I didn't need it) and then hit him with DBS and my other dmg dealing skills.

Use the same tactics when you fight it. If you bring empathy don't use physical attacks against him and he'l kill himself. If you bring smites, be prepared to counter them...

yes there is a bonus for time, but I don't remeber exactly what it is. Maybe if you kill him in less than 40 or 50 seconds you get it. It will tell you when you get there if you want to take time to read it.

ok i was planning on smammin backfire and other self-killers lol. Im gonna film it to show my frend cause im the first of us to do it but it shouslnt be to hard.

i got my ass kicked the first time because it casted backfire first little cheater. After using backfire, empathy and healing breeze i ran up to it and used balth aura i think. it ran and i chased it killing it as soon as i got within range lmao. Couldnt film b/c it was laggy but thanks for all the advice.

Also where do i go to change my 2nd profession? I want to respec to necro.

go to drok's for the quest from vanyi that is supposed to show you around the desert (if you haven't found all the towns yet), you can change in 3 small towns in the desert. I think they are Seekers something, Hero's Audience, and Destinies Gorge (maybe). I think the necro one is in Hero's Audience

1 Spell. Healing Breeze. Nuf said.

Melee him to death with your staff and wand, occasionally healing with HB. He won't use it unless it's conditional. Voila. You win. Any monk or /monk can use this option.
