Which is the better AOE Curse?
gamer502
I am running a Discord spam team and I am looking for an AOE hex to use. I, as a ranger, do not use Assassin Promise, instead I use Asura Scan as a backup hex, but my necros hex pretty well by themselves. I'm looking for an AOE hex that would make the hex condition of Discord fulfilled easier. Which would you guys prefer?
[Suffering] or [Meekness]

I assume you already having rising bile, so I'd go with Suffering.
Faster recharge/cast and adds a little bit of degen pressure.

As far as I know discord works with conditions aswell? or maybe I'm wrong.

I think credit meant putrid bile the one that does xx damage if target dies while hexed. Since that damage is armor ignoring it helps alot.
I actually go with 6 necro heroes (with a friend) and I make sure that one has suffering and the other has shadow of fear I believe it is. Just because my necro already uses enfeebling blood and I didn't want to have that with meekness to be in a sacrifice frenzy.
But meekness is good because it does have a bigger aoe than the other.
Discord needs both a condition and a hex/ enchantment to be able to do damage.

It has the potential to do 100+ AoE damage, but even if it doesn't last the full duration it will still do solid AoE damage.
With multiple copies, well, you get the idea. MercenaryKnight
The only reason I don't like rising bile is that it contradicts the point of a discord team ie. Your not getting the best effect out of it if your properly spiking down mobs within seconds (resulting in a small amount of damage).
I would rather bring like 2 copies of putrid bile which I believe has a smaller recharge, than bringing rising bile in hopes that an enemy will last long enough for it to be effective. I suppose if their really was some hard groups or monks that it'd be effective but I just can't see the point to it. Many other effective skills that you can bring. I have been trying out a n/mo curser with some backup smite skills. Reversal of damage, smite hex (because it deals damage in a ward size unlike smite condition) and scourge healing. Scourge healing should be very effective in any place against a destroyer or where monks can be a hassle. gamer502

Good point, I too also have Enfeebling Blood on my Discord/Curse/Prot Necro, that was my main concern, the health sacrifice. 17% + 10% could be pretty harsh. But I am only doing NM missions on NF, so maybe I'll keep it. upier
I am using [shadow of fear].
Combine that with [weaken armor] and [enfeebling blood]. Also the N/Me brings [conjure nightmare]. DarkSpirit
Meekness has a bigger area than suffering. However, both are expensive hexes, especially Meekness. What that means is, unless you plan to switch target, if there are hex removal, it is probably not useful to use them to support Discord. But if you want to use Meekness, I would consider using it with Well of Darkness.

In my opinion it's always helpful to have a few aoe hexes and conditions. Not so much about switching targets, but being able to move on to the next kill right after.
The only time I ever really need a hex is when I mess up or some mob has hex removals and my ap goes out. But being able to have heroes take care of all the requirements helps a lot when you intend to play other builds. I may try to setup a 6 hero version that would be effective to do a 3/3 split (say for golem mission). I just seem to have problems trying to figure out any more support roles without problems. Shadow of fear/ suffering should be enough, also for your ranger you could attempt an apply poison+ incendiary arrows elite ranger to spread poison and burning for the condition requirements. Gift3d
[suffering] medium aoe, quick recharge, quick cast
[meekness] large aoe, slow recharge, slow cast [shadow of fear] tiny aoe, quick recharge, slow cast I'd go with suffering. Turbobusa
I'd go with SoF or meekness because they actually have a defensive use.

QFT. I am trying Meekness+Well of Darkness+Enfeebling Blood myself in high damage AoE, and melee heavy areas. There are places that MMs are not effective.

I am going Meekness for the massive AOE hexing. And yes I like its defensive aspect as well, 50% slower attack is really nice. 17% sacrifice is a worthy sacrifice if you can even hit Meekness on half of the group. And I've realized Meekness works pretty nicely on casters as well, casters tend to wand every now and then, and if they are attacking you with a slowed wand attack, then they arent casting spells.

I was playing around with some Discord guys yesterday and I thought of this thread.
I would just suggest to pay attention to the AI use of Shadow Of Fear (possibly Meekness). I was running Gwenny as a Discord gal and she had a few issues using SoF. It seemed to me she refused to use it unless she'd hit a weapon mastery foe with it. So if one needs a hex just to trigger Discord - it might be better to look at other options. Once again - this needs further testing - so if anyone is running it, please share your observations on it. Edit: I did some more fooling around with these two hexes. Gwenny does seem a LOT more trigger happy with Suffering. She still refused to use SoF on casters - but she spreads the love with Suffering. So it seems I'll need to carry Suffering with me on top of SoF (SoF is just to sweet to not be brought) ... |
