Personally I thanked M.O.X. for the 10k and 20 party points and then went on with my business. He hasn't touched my party except for the trip to the secret lair, and probably won't when I've got two other perfectly fine Dervish heroes.

Another reason why minor scythe mastery is more expensive than, for example, minor sword/axe (and obviously hammer PvE) is that Dervish is campaign specific and as a result there are a lot more drops for sword/axe. Scythe runes drop only in NF and EoTN, while core runes drop in all four, and in greater percentages in Prophecies (random % / 6 professions)

I find it funny that after having 2 dervish heroes (1 for almost 2 years, the other for almost a year) everyone is going beserk over having a third derv.

Listen, we here are the elite few who think they know something (sarcasm)...let's be honest, 80% or more of guild wars players don't even know this site exists.
Anet obviously found out a lot of kids out there really dig the golems and this just proves them right. To me it sucks and I will never use MOX, but hey, that's ok, I enjoyed doing the quests with all my 13 characters and making the 130k in 2 days. Bought me a nice voltaic spear and I'm happy. Just the one thing my para still needed.
So runes will be out for a week or two, they will be back and 2 months from now you'll hardly see MOX being used anymore cause there are better classes for heroes. But hey, I ain't complaining.

Last night, my party consist of 1 Warrior (pug) + 1 big dud3, 1 mesmer (me) + 1 Orgen , 1 paragon (pug) + 1 big dud3, 1 Sin (pug) + 1 big dud3.
I said, "umm, are we sure gonna go with this set up? We will fail you know.. and fast.. >_> "

I already had mel and kahmu fitted out and had minors lying around on a mule. Just short of two windwalkers but I can wait.
And yup, even if I rarely run a derv hero, let alone two, I'll still rune up MOX on my main. Just in case. You only need to do it once after all.

This has been a problem for some time.
When something becomes a high-demand item, the Rune Trader becomes a communist store. Everything is really really cheap, but no one can buy anything because demand far outstrips supply. Demand far outstrips supply because the trader doesn't refresh inventory fast enough. (He seems to refresh to a supply of one of each item every five minutes or so.)
For whatever reason, the trader seems to need a LOT of data to move a price one increment, and the increments at the bottom end of the scale are VERY small. The end result is obvious to anyone that has ever taken an introductory course in economics at a decent college: the price ceiling leads to far too much demand than can be satisfied at that price, and since demand cannot be satisfied it takes weeks for the trader to get enough data to put prices where they should be.
The obvious solutions are to increase the refresh rate or adjust the amount of data the trader needs at the low end of the scale (or just when sold out) in order to increase a price. However, ANet seems to be incredibly reluctant to do this; this is probably related to the massive inflation event of June-July 2005 after they adjusted trader code.
Now, if they were smart, they'd precode the traders not to let things get TOO out of hand until they could deal with the problem if something like that happened. But apparently they aren't very good at building failsafes.
Conclusion: clearly ANet is both risk-averse and ignorant of advanced economic principles such as mechanism design. These issues drive the majority of problems we observe in the in-game economy. Hire someone with a Ph.D. in economics that focused on mechanism design, IMO. Restructuring the in-house reward system such that risk taking is rewarded (when successful) is also in order.
This is nothing more than another manifestation of trends that have been in place for three years. You should not be surprised.
