Hello, I still have prophecies and havent really gone far in the game (thanks wow). I was reading articles about guild wars 2 coming out, and i was wondering should I bother buying nightfall, factions and eye of the north?

If you intend on playing Guild Wars again then yes, if not then no.

I'd say yes, buy NF first and if you get really hooked EotN (factions is pretty useless except for casual pvp). Guild Wars 2 will come out around 2010 (if we're lucky), so you have plenty of hours to waste .

If you're bored with Prophecies and GW isn't really catching your attention, then it may not be worth it. Finish Prophecies, if you do end up having fun and you think you'll enjoy the rest, buy the others.

GW2 is supposed to be a different game, so there will be no penalty if you skip out on most of Guild Wars. There will be a more wallet-friendly collection with all of the content out soon, though.

That would all depend on what profession you are and what weapon you are.I would definetly get EoTN for Hall of Monuments.

If you're enjoying the game then yes, if not, then no. simple as that. Factions for PVP, EOTN for Prophecies map continuation and HOM, NF for heroes. That's what they bring to the table.

All that matters: Do you want more to play with?

@OP - Even if GW2 came out next month, GW is still worth playing. They are (will be) two completely different game types.

And, in my opinion, Factions is great fun. I have all three campaigns, the EotN expansion, the BMP, and if anything else is offered, I'll buy that also. Best game ever for longevity.

Yes, you may want to get EOTN, because it contains the Hall of Monuments which will allow you to move the achievements of your toons to GW2. Try finding a good guild which will help you out and that will even make the game more fun and interesting.

Since the time frame for the release of GW2 isn't exactly known, and the pace at which you play through the game is also unknown, you should probably hold off on getting any new content until you actually want/need more content.
But, to answer your question (sort of) - I`d say get EotN next, then go on from there.

GW2 release date is unknown, and at the very soon is end year next year. And those 3 chapters can last you more than 1 year, so...

Chiming in with some of the others here - finish Prophecies, and if you like it and want more GW, get EotN. If you STILL want more GW, get NF and then Factions. Unless you love PvP in which case get Factions before NF.

Hm, if you are only playing WoW than it may not be very useful to buy another GW you know...

If you want to give GW more attention, play through most pf Prophecies first and then decide if you like it enough to continue.

If you intend to wait for GW2 youre going to have a long wait, they havent even released a screenshot yet so it's probably not going to be out for at least another year.

Its funny how everyone here is all "Factions is teh Uselest!"

But if you look at whats 'hot', you will need to get Factions for ShadowForm Sin.

But if youre new, dont worry about making money?

You are in a quandary then. If you want more content, Factions is great for MMs because almost every enemy leaves a corpse. And it also has [skill]spoil victor[/skill] which is a good skill. Nightfall though has heroes which make very good MMs and has a few good Necro skills also. I don't know if they are still popular since I don't play my necro much but [skill]animate shambling horror[/skill] and [skill]jagged bones[/skill] used to be quite good and popular.
