Any tips on Gate of Pain?
Zalan Barkblade
I seem to keep getting wiped at Gate of Pain. I make it as far as Emissary of Dhuum. & Defeat the Emissary, however I seem to get randomly wiped afterwords trying to free the souls.
I run a Ranger/Paragon Packhunter build. Run Dunkoro as a Protector/Healer Hybrid. I usely run Sabway when possable, & have to leave out the N/Rt Healer, however due to Dunkoro. Normally 2 Ele, 1 Ranger, & 1 monk Henchie.
Should I try using another Hero Team? I believe the major flaw may be no disruption on either my character or my Heros.

I'd actually drop the N/Rt hexer for the N/Rt healer, even though you have Dunk. Then perhaps spec Dunk to pure prot. And I'd drop either the monk henchie or one of the eles and bring along Devona.

good pulling and watching patrol is key if your going for masters
White Lies
You need front liners
Drop one of the eles (idk what torment creature are weak against, so look that up ) and the ranger and bring the war+derv or war+monk.
Its a failrly srtaightforward mission, just watch out for over aggro, and try and pull mobs/spider things/the bosses away from patrol spots and you should be good.

ask a friend who has an imbagon to come help you if you can't do it with h/h
that advice goes for the whole game btw.
level 2: make an imbagon

I run Gwen on an all interrupt build (thats like 5 interrupts and 3 energy managment spells). And i just make sure she is full of energy whenever i attack a terrorweb dryder. She works well initially but if the battle goes on too long she becomes pretty useless.
I would run a high damage build and just pick them off one at a time.
I would not run Livia, she works better when there is an MM and minions dying left and right. that's what fuels her healing. Keep dunkoro.
I would run...
Gwen - Focused on interrupt
Dunkoro - HB or ZB
Souske, Vekk, or Zhed - Air spike, (orb, invoke, hammer)
Herta - for ward of elements
Menlo - healing
Sogolon - most underrated hero ever
Devona - use charge to run away...
Battles should not last long... they dont have res skills. So get in, kill what you can as soon as you get overwhelmed run away. Do not, force your way through this mission. One target at a time.

I used to run missions for gold...gate of pain was one of the hardest as a necro primary...
A few suggestions:
1. Use Winter to turn off the Dryders Mark of rodgart.
2. need party wide heals, and condition removal when possible
3. bring blind/enfeeble for the Blades of corruption.
4. alsways kill dryders first. Lock a SS/Enfeeble Necro on blade of corruption/Emissary.
5. As a necro, I would bring a ranger hero with Greater conflag/Winter, then I would echo Spinal shivers and my minions are great interupters.
als careful pulling and have a hero prot spirit you before you pull

A BHA ranger with d-shot and savage shot works wonders here.
BHA plus frontline means dryders are useless. PS you tank before he runs in for the tormentted dryders and then drop BHA and no more casts for him.
SS/enfeeble owns the blades
Overall the hardest part of this mission is the bonus and that is very managable if you carefully pull groups

When going for bonus, make sure you know where the patrols are. If the spiders cross with the tormented, its a good idea to wait and pull the spiders because they can be devastating if more than one group of spiders (or more than one group of monsters for that matter) is aggroed. Also, seeing as you're a ranger, bring interupts and daze. You also want your tank to not be a complete idiotic aggro monkey, and if you're gonna H/H, flag them correctly. Basically, mastering the patrols is key for this mission

I have done this miss multiple times on NM and HM, every time I used BHA epidemic ranger, a Power Block Mes, and dunk on w/e. I used the para henchie, a monk, a mes, and then w/e else. Also note that I'm a para, so SY! had some (ok, maybe a lot) to do with the ease at which I beat this miss.

Use BHA yourself. You're a ranger anyways...
Keep the N/Rt healer and put in him/her [shelter].
Those Dryders can hit hard.
I wouldn't reccommend droping the MM, it's useful as the AoE makes them explode almost all at once.
Bring a manageable [protective spirit] for pulling.
If still having problems, see if you can fit in the MM's bar a couple of wards instead of the heals/prots (against elements/stability).
Of course if you want SUPER easy mode find/ask/hire some Warrior/Paragon so you can bring [save yourselves!] and breeze.
Pulling and watching patrols, usually there's a Torment demon group along with a Dryder group.
I usually would bring Dunkoro with [light of deliverance] because of the enviromental effect, Herta for [ward against melee], Kihm and Sogolon/Devona with this setup.
Good luck.

Sabway with Dunkers as pure Prot over a hybrid. *Swap for N/Rt Healer*
2x monk hench, Cynn & Devona.
As your ranger i'd say you should run the R/W Stance Tank. http://www.pvxwiki.com/wiki/Build:R/W_Stance_Tank
High AL vs. Elemental Damage as a frontliner is win in this mission, also the big KD's help too vs. Just about everything.
Hope this helps >:

Good job! That was the key all along. To bring atleast 1 warrior henchman/player and pulling is always going to be the key.

I did this VERY easily in HM by taking a dazing ranger (broad head arrow works wonders here) and a minion master. The minions will make sure that the tormentors (which I assume are the ones that kill you) do not cast their fire/air spells. However, if for any reason your interruptions fail, you should take pain inverter.
This applies to any and all spell casters (which include rains of terror and those meteor shower casters). Daze them and apply pain inverter on them just to make sure.
I have found that daze is pretty much the key to a lot of the hard missions in Elona. Definitely useful, albeit a bit overpowered.
And congrats on passing the mission .

Because there are a lot of powerful Elementalist foes in this mission, a nice skill to bring is Pain Inverter, if you have EotN and have that skill. It's always nice to have a Ranger or a Mesmer hero with lots of interrupts, because heroes are VERY good at interrupts.
Your problem may be your healers. Heroes/Henchies are fine at healing, but are horrible at protection. They don't understand how to protect what. For instance, if you have 6 life-stealing hexes on you, they may cast Protective Spirit on you, which as you might know will do nothing to help you survive against these hexes. I suggest joining a group or asking some guild members to help out.
To be honest, Gate of Pain is the first mission I NEEDED help from other players to succeed in. Before that, I could generally hero/henchman the missions.
Hope I helped!
