Out of curiousity, are you guys still having problems?
I am - unplayable before midnight, fine until about 8-9 in the morning. Okay at the weekends.
Demon say that it's sweet FA to do with them, and I know it's not my connection because everything else (including traffic that I'd expect to get shaped) is fine.

I am with demon and my game is unplayable on weekday afternoons (gmt). Demon say the problem isnt their end. I am not technically minded so I have very little idea how to determine what the problem is.

I've given up, really.
Going to be swopping ISPs in November when I'm out of my contract with Demon. (Not quite pissed off enough to do it early and pay penalty fees.)

Yup, often it's impossible to do anything other than stand in GH chatting. Even then, the Guild Chat lags
We've complained numerous times, and they have said the problem's not at their end. Had it going on for about a year now.
Glad to see I'm not the only one

Anet will never admit it's their problem when it blatantly is.

Well, I have seen many threads come up about Demon internet users over the ages, I do think it IS Demon. It at least has something to do with them, at least.
In fact madcat made a thread about this a few months back, you can search it up if you like.

Go with Virgin if you can. They're slowly upgrading everyone on the 4mb to 10mb for free. Works out cheaper for them in the long run, while making themselves look generous at the same time. I couldn't live with standard BB since switching a few years back. Constant speed, no interference etc

I'm not going to Virgin because their fair use policy stinks.
Will be swopping to Zen internet, who are pricy but offer everything that Demon used to. (I used to have a dialup account with Demon - when I swopped it to broadband they didn't bother to tell me that I'd be losing my homepages and usenet)
Also Zen are on a per-month contract, which suits me a lot better than the normal one year buyin period.

Virgins fair usage policy isn't that bad compared to some. Basically you just have to download big files at night. Besides that you shouldn't see any notable difference. Plus cable is far superior then normal broadband. You get constant speeds, so if you pay for 4gb you actually get around 4gb unlike BT etc where you might only get 1.5-2mb even if you're paying for 4mb.
BE* are offering 24mb gaming connection for £30ish. 1.5mb upload speed which is the best currently available in the UK. Advertised as unlimited, but read the small print.

Yep still bad for me.Funnily enough I sent another email to them earlier explaining it as clear as possible and everything that I've done to try and fix the problem.
For the last few weeks I've been in contact with GW support and they've had me try various things. This is the last email I had from them
Hello XXXXX,
Thanks for your update. It appears, as you have stated it happens on all computers in your household, that this problem is either router- or ISP-related. If you are absolutely sure that you haven't changed the default configuration apart from the standard settings for your login, this can only be an ISP issue. The behaviour you're describing could be linked to a lower QoS (Quality of Service) either from your line or for specific ports. Also, since it's normal on weekends it could lead to the assumption that a device in your provider's network can't handle a certain load, especially if large businesses are operating during the week and the device is under a heavier load than on weekends when mainly just residential internet traffic occurs.
We can only suggest you get in touch with your ISP and ask for the Technical Support as normally the 1st llevel agents can't specifically check the QoS handling or read event logs from routers. Perhaps a port reset on your ISP's side helps as well.
Kind regards,
GM Peter

When I get a reply from Demon from my last email I'm going to send a letter direct to them because I don't think any phone calls or emails get past the call center in India

Interestingly enough I have the same issues with the City of Heroes patcher. (though at least there I have no problem with the game.)
