Thoughts on HoM weapons
Zeek Aran
Currently, putting a Destroyer weapon in the HoM will customize it to that character. There are exactly 11 Destroyer weapons, and that's all the HoM holds. If someone wants to fill it up, they have to get a bunch of weapons they can't use. Yes, his or her heroes can use it, but who would waste that much material/gold on a hero?
Why aren't the Destroyer weapons "customized" in the same way minipets are? It would be VERY nice if it was changed to that. Hopefully they think about it before re-doing the HoM in their next big update.

This has been brought up before and it's always something I agree with. Mainly because of the points you've covered.
beserk
I just destroy them after i add them to hom my sabway heros all have eotn end game weapons thus the d weapons have no use to me, so i agree with the OP.
Destro Maniak
well if you spend gold on your hom you are retarted anyway
so anet decided not to reward but damage them
seriously why would you spend so much gold on a "place" that you wont see %99 of your play time

it would be nice if they changed it in the big HoM update but they probably wont.

i would, my best move so far is buying tormented focus and sceptor for ritualist hero then realizing its holding ashes most of the time anyway.

If I'm reading this right, it seems the main issue is that you (and I for that matter) don't want to buy 11 destroyer weapons for 1 character to use. I whole heartedly agree on that note. However it seems like this issue will be rendered moot when they make the HoM more account based. If you can spread those 11 destroyer or torment weapons among several different characters that might use them, then they won't just be hero fodder.
Granted, the Destroyer weapons are ugly as sin and I wouldn't be caught dead using them.

I just play a R/E Nuker.
King Kong
I just wish i could add my Icy Dragon Sword, i first started playing GW when they first came out. It ended up being my goal to get one, i got one a few months later and have used it every since! It piss me off im not gonna have it in GW2
Grenths Ire
I agree with Kong. It would be nice if you could add whatever weapons you wanted, whether they were gold or green, whether they are going to unlock something in GW2 or not. It is OUR Hall of Monuments. We should be able to display whatever trophies have meaning or value to US....
Oh well.
I have my Destroyer Spear on display, but it has meaning to me, as it is modded to caster specs for my farming build.

Buying 11 Destroyer Weapons for 1 HoM was expensive when Onyx's were 8k each. Compared to that, buying all eleven today is a joke.
Savio
Who buys HoM stuff because of its usefulness now? I doubt you're regularly using 20 minipets, 5 elite armors, or 30 titles.

I'll only dedicate my Tormented items to the HoM (if that update ever arrives), once I find out what benefits I can expect to recieve.
ectos taste nasty
Cause HoM is a gimmick?
BadgerznPie
It doesn't both me because I'm W/R/N/Me/Mo/E/A/Rt/P/D. But, yeah, I agree it needs to be changed.
BenjZee
but the thing is no one forced you to get these weapons. But if you do you could either give them to your heroes or hold them for now as we all know theres going to be an update. This will allow us to get the weapons on the correct profession character then the weapon will show in the account-based monument

HoM will get changed so it's account wide. If your warrior has a sword & shield, customized and displayed in HoM, and your monk a wand & offhand in HoM, after the big HoM all items will be displayed in HoM, regardless of which character you are using. At least that's what I interpretated.
Also, in the spirit of "GW1", I doubt having a full HoM will give you any actual advantage in GW2, it will just be a way to show your e-peen, just like anything you can add to HoM now (with the exception of all the PvE grind titles).

Good suggestion, I hope in the future Anet changes the system but makes certain that it will retroactively change weapons already in the HoM.
I just filled my weapon monument from empty the other day and currently have most of those weapons sitting in storage with no reason to use them (that's what being bored gets me, almost half my gold gone).
Nothing involved with filling up the HoM (titles, elite armor, elite weapons, minipets, upgraded heroes) has anything to do with either roleplaying or progression; everyone knows that.

and what would people in pve be doing right now if they didn't have some goal? it's an RPG. the whole point of an RPG is progression, which is a lot more fun when you have a goal toward which you can progress. |

And GWEXTREMEFAN, if you have the money to burn on destroyer weapons.... why wouldn't you? If you have hundreds of plat, its meant to be spent. You get no rewards for just letting it sit there (something I finally reallized after I got my FoW). Just having money in the bank is worthless if you don't use it to get the stuff you want.
kazjun
Well, something is better than nothing, right? Plat sitting in your xunlai will not be worth a thing in GW2, while if you fill your HoM (even if the benefits are crap) you'll at least have something.
I'm sure the armour and weapon benefits won't last long since you'll probably get better gear, but a unique mini or hero/sidekick/pet will last quite a while. Especially if the hero/sidekick/pet is cool, you could take them all the way with you as you level. As for title benefits, who knows? Still, at least it's something. And the way GW2 is going, who knows when it'll be out. You should have bought all you really wanted to by then, so what are you going to use the plat for?

All the GW players who joined this late into the game have it lucky.
Courage!
i dont think gw2 will have much to do with HoM, it'll probably get you a weapon that everyone will have and no value or a title so i dont think HoM will be great in gw2 UNLESS we get info on it

And I'm going to laugh when the HoM in GW2 fails like the original did and the most you'll get from it is some worthless title that tells everyone that you wasted all those hours in GW to get a worthless title in GW2.

Psst. The HoM is going to be account-based. Buy your destroyer weapons on characters that you can use them on, or give them to your heroes. Really frickin simple.
As to the people laughing at players "wasting" their money on the HoM: like you really have a more productive way of spending a couple million gold, right? At least money spent in the HoM comes with us, in some recognizable and (ostensibly) pretty-looking form in GW2.

55k for destroyer weapons...not exactly hard to get. Oh, add in cost of salvage kits to get the iron and granite....ooh. 60k TOPS. gold granite hammers/stonehead hammers/cleavers with highly salvageable inscrips, almost 100 granite a pop. Sure, sometimes you get steel but you can sell that for more granite, still overall costing you nothing.
Farm the onyx and diamonds.
If you go about it the right way, it's not as expensive as you might think.
