I was chest running outside Boreal Station in HM when I decided to kill the passing polar bear (lvl 5, I'm 20) for a couple extra norn points. I noticed that my Rodgort's Invocation, which is supposed to do 106 fire damage, was hitting for 53.
Do they have some super fire resistance or something?
EDIT: ran it again in NM and hit RI for 163, so is it just a Hard Mode rule that fire magic has to suck, even against lvl 5 animals?
do some pets have natural resistance?

I did some testing. I went to kill sand lizards outside of hero's audience.
In NM i did 59 dmg (max sword, +15%^50, 14 sword) and toke 0 damage.
In HM i did 36 dmg (max sword, +15%^50, 14 sword) and toke 0 damage.
I think they receive an armor bonus but that disappears when you rezone if captured (didn't test this ;D).

This is a great chest run area in HM. I did get 2 Forget Me not inscriptions there. I never tried to kill the bear ad I could not target it. I am not a ranger.
That said I did some testing killing the wurms when I was going for my first survivor. The wurms deal FIRE damage. So maybe the bear has fire armor.
I am not sure.
