Where do I farm Granite?
Chocobo1
I've looked through the forum and everyone says farm the Hard Mode Elementals. So I did that, and I got like 8 granite in a run. The scorched lodestones they drop only come back into 1 granite and I think I'm either doing it wrong or that the farm is pathetically slow. I need to get 500 granite and so I was wondering if anyone knows a faster way? If its a weapon to salvage maybe tell me a place to farm where they commonly drop? Help appreciated in advance
Keekles
I typically do Oola's Lab for granite, the golem stones turn into lots of it
Chocobo1
oooh how much?
Keekles
typically 6-7 granite per. depending on my luck I can get a stack of granite in one run through of the dungeon. Bonus is whatever I get out of the end chest :P

Those Hulking Stone Elementals all over Ascalon drop a lot of granite, especially if you do it in HM. 55 Monks and Necros work very well against them.

Yeah, thats what I 55'd. I was using SV and it seriously wasn't worth the time considering they only dropped 1 scorched lodestone which salvages to 1 granite slab (They dont drop granite themselves).
Scarn
They do drop granite in 8-11 piece increments.
Fire The Nutter
Ele nuker works better in my experience but ive got LOADS of granite this way, plus the odd tome and a fair bit of charcoal

Yeah, i've been running a E/Me Earth tank/Sliver Armor. And I've been getting rather rich over the high price of Granite these days. But i've noticed the price dropping a bit, I swore the price was over 300/10 a few days ago, now it's about 250/10 or w/ever. Which is telling me, there are a good amount of folks farming it besides me.
Anybody know what was driving the price way up?

Back when I needed some granite, I liked doing the Stone Scale Kirin right outside of Maatu Keep in Pongmei Valley.
They are right outside the door and the solo build was really fast. They drop granite slabs in stacks of 5 - 10 (IIRC) and they also drop alot of Stone Horns which salvage into 5 - 7 granite each.
Sorry, I don't remember the build right off hand but, you should be able to find it on PvXWiki pretty easy.

Actually its the VS Farm that's driving the price up. With all the Onyx and Diamonds that are dropping from the Slaver's Chest, everyone wants to make destroyer weapons! Each destroyer weapon needs 250 granite slabs
Numa Pompilius
Monoliths drop inscribed shards which salvage into 6-8 granite, plus you can grind at your lightbringer title at the same time. Sandstone Crag & Shambling Mesas also drop lodestones which can be salvaged to granite.

Been farming them since I started do VS runs with my ele. Get any where from 0-75 granite a run, usually its around 25 or so. The build is a slight variation of the PvX build called Savannah Heat farmer (Armor of Earth isn't needed for Hulkings) Might also try the stone Kirin in Pongmei Vally.
Darcy
The HM Ascalon stone elemental farming gets you granite, chitin, dye, charcoal, tomes, lockpicks and the occasional ruby. Don't bother salvaging the lodestones or the carapaces, cost ratio is bad.
I just pick up the stackable drops and sell for additional gold to the merchant.
Mostly I do this run when there are special drops, but it's an easy source for granite.

I've been farming in Pongmei Valley for the past two weeks. Here's a picture showing what items you can get for example (and where to lure enemies):
(btw the run took 4 minutes just because I was afk for 2 minutes before I started the run )
Usually run takes about 2 minutes and enemies can drop 16-18 Granite at once, Stone Horns which can be salvaged for 5-7 Granite, Marble Hammers which can also be salvaged for Granite and golden items once in a while. They can also drop some good skins like Echovald Shield, Gothic, Amber Aegis and so on.
I've been using the following build if someone wants to know:

I tried few runs with A/E fire nuker and it's doable in 2-4 minutes but I still don't like the fact that they flee when their hp gets low. It makes the run times fluctuate quite a bit.
If someone knows a way to prevent them from fleeing please tell me. (I tried Caltrops and Grasping Earth but it's not enough imo)

although could u burning speed + frigid armor them to death?? or mark of rodgort and inferno I tested Burning Speed + Frigid Armor and it worked quite well. All enemies died in less than 3 minutes (don't know if it was closer to 2 or 3 minutes but I'd guess 3). I try Mark of Rodgort and Inferno next to see if it works/if it's faster.
Edit: Mark of Rodgort + Inferno worked also as good as Burning Speed + Frigid Armor. /age showed 2 minutes for it also.
2nd Edit: New updated build: [SF A/E Pongmei Farmer;OwZToY/85R6zj0Z4Ckhv4WUWBA]
That is even faster than A/Me build and you never die just because you forget to recast Arcane Echoed SF (I have died like that sooo many times). Just don't use both AoE spells right after each other or they will flee for a few seconds. You know when you can use the 2nd AoE spell by checking if they are burning or not. If not you can use the 2nd AoE spell. ^^ Flame Djinn's Haste is great for aggroing enemies. Speeds up the run a little bit. Thanks to MoreArrows for the idea.
3rd Edit: Decided to do one more run before going to sleep.

I run an ele build for the hm Hulking Stone Elementals. Nice and fast, and ya, lots of granite. The occasional tome, charcoal and gold items will drop as well.
[E Me Hulk Farm;OgVDksy8Mf1tqBwYAMmFBjyK]
For equipment I use full geomancer armor, totem axe and a shield with a "Like a Rolling Stone" inscription on it. Fill in the rest with whatever floats your boat. I'm not even sure you need all that +armor vs earth, I just use it for giggles.

Well thanks to Jay because it would have taken me an age to test it out. I think I'll make a thread on it in the next week or so.

I saw someone asking to buy granite for 6.7k a stack yesterday and I thought.. WTF when did that happen. I got out my 3 stacks sitting in storage and sold them all straight away.. I know they get used for powerstones but I never thought about the destroyer weapons..
I did the feather farm for a while.. Now it might be time to try this one.

Any/warrior can farm the hulking stone elementals in hardmode by just using dwarven stability and glad's defense. Throw in club of a thousand bears and on your knees to recharge it and you now have permanent glad's defense. Throw in any primary degen or skills to help speed it up and theirs the farm.
Wnx Mreslayer
... HM Elementals outside Sardelac I can do 50 in 14minutes on my warrior only using Prophecies skills... If wanted I can post the build but i see youre using a ele...

You haven't killed enough of them, the Hulking Stone Elementals drop Granite, as do the Gargoyles (you can also pick up Scales from them as well), heh. Truth be told though, go with the Golems. That sounds far more fun than the boring Elementals, even if they can and have dropped Sapphires.

If someone knows a way to prevent them from fleeing please tell me. (I tried Caltrops and Grasping Earth but it's not enough imo) Let SF run out and keep a vamp wep on you to keey ur HP below 20% and they wont flee. But ya...

That would kill them so fast and with the KD and burning i doubt you would need to let it slip, if they did come back just pop [lava font] and [Flame Djinn's Haste], it would'nt take long at all.

Also sapphires.
Any proffession can farm these mobs, they're kind of pathetic. Just figure out a build for it.

I use 600/smite on my necro with ogden for the hulking elementals outside of saderlac and they fill up my granite slot very quickly and easily but it is sooooo boring after a couple of runs, you also get tons and tons of charcoal out there too, plus there is always a warrior and an elementalist boss there too ...

There's 9 skills ^^ but anyway... I decided to drop Glyph of Sacrifice before testing. I tried one run with 19hp out of 455. I used [Meteor Shower]->[Bed of Coals]->[Lava Font]->[Flame Djinn's Haste]->[Lava Font] and still some of them fled with 10-20% hp left. The run was kinda slow because I had to wait for sf to end before aggroing and they still fled. So I guess it would be better to use this build with full hp and then it would be quite fast tbh. I still prefer the other build because I hate fleeing mobs.

In The Elusive Golemancer quest in EN. Simply use h/h to get there and kill the 1st room so that Worker Golem can open the door for you. After the 1st room is clear flag h/h way back and set up your 55 build and solo the entire 2nd room. This usually gets me anywhere from 30 to 100 granite per farm (from Golem Runstones, each gices you 6-8 granite). Once that 1st room is clear you must resign. Resigning just puts you right outside the quset though so just hop right back in and h/h the 1st room and solo the 2nd room til your blue in the face.

Fleeting Stability is critical since they KD a lot, just keep it up and youll be fine.

The kirin farm is very simple and takes less than 3 mins to kill 16 or so foes. You also get come nice skins and stuff like i got a q9 dual gothic axe today. bad inscription though. shame they rnt inscribable.
still u can get like 180 granite in 1 hour or so. not really sure yet.

Ascalon City => Sardelac HM Elemental Run.
10 minutes w/ a SV 55 Necro. Average b/t 30 and 70 Granite per run, as well as Charcoal, golds (sell them as 7/5k unID), Picks, Tomes, and don't forget Cobble and Flint (W and E bosses). I get around 1-2k per run in merch drops, not counting the golds, tomes, picks, rare Sapphires, and of course, this weekend event items (which AREN'T scaled by loot scaling, and can drop ON TOP of what the mob normally drops).
Every event weekend my Necro gets to go out and have fun Farming the Elementals, and he's quite pleased with the cash flow...

I used this build too:
Ele Hulk Farmer This gives a map you can follow and other useful information.
Yes, sometimes the drops are low but other times you can get 40-50 slabs doing this run. I had gathered about 1,000 stones before I realized the price had hit sky high and then sold them. I know I can always get more. I was saving them for powerstones.

It's not fast and efficient if you're after granite slabs to sell, but I got most of mine farming the three stone bosses just outside Arborstone: necro, ele and monk. Old farm spot, I know
I was actually aiming for the green Curses and Prot staves for use on my heroes, then realized the Stone Remnants and Stone Carvings salvage into granite. You also get the chance to get elite tomes, and FOW/UW/XP scrolls too. If you're lucky, you get all at the same time
Look, I has Stone Remnants!

I was farming yesterday afternoon whiht my Eley in Sardelac, and i got a stack of granite in about 6 or 7 runs. A fairly amount of charcoal and warrior tomes are added to the loot aswel. Gold drops are quite rare aswell as Dyes.
I used a E/Me whith erath skills. Hoever i noticed that drops where far more rentable if the mobs are killed 1 by 1.
