To play Nightfall, you need Nightfall and Nightfall only. If you only have 'normal' (Prophecies, the Original, Guild Wars etc.) you can only play that game, and not travel to Nightfall.

So what your saying is, if i go buy GW in a store and it only says Guild Wars, that is prophecies correct? Ahh, so i can only play in prophecies until i buy nightfall and transfer my character rite?

If buy Guild Wars: Prophecies (just Guild Wars in most stores), you can play through that storyline, yes. If and/or when you buy Nightfall you can add that to your existing account (this is very important, if you don't add it, you have two accounts and a lot of hassle) and when your Phrophecies character reaches a certain point, they can go to Nightfall and back again.

The same is true of a character you make in Nightfall, but only fi both games are joined to the same account.

Does this help?

/agree with everything tatile said, also keep in mind that you can add Eye of the North to any account, because its an expansion, as long as it has one of the three campaigns, Proph, NF and/or factions.

Well, even if you don't have nightfall, whoever you know that does have it can come over to prophecies and play with you too

For your info: There is also a recently released Guild Wars Trilogy edition (Be sure to not get Trilogy trial) which contains all three chapters.

keep in mind that if you buy Guild Wars you will be forced to play with all of the people who read these forums...*shudder*
