THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN FIXED =) If you have a similar problem, you must wait 24 hours, not 1 hour as the wiki would have you believe. (I have now corrected this).
Ok, just a quick question. I have a main account and recently created a new, second account. On the main account, I had a storage character that I liked the name of, so it was a shame to only use it as a mule. I deleted this character and went to make it on the new account to be used as a proper character, but I get the message that the name is taken. However, someone else has not got the name as I can re-create it on the main account.
Is there a certain period of time that has to pass before names can be taken, to prevent you from losing them in re-creation?
Any help would be appreciated, thanks.
Edit - It would seem the wiki page that has this information on it is wrong. I waited for 4 hours and was still not able to re-create the character on the new account so I looked into this further. It turns out it is 24 hours, not the 1 hour the wiki would lead you to believe. I made a quick edit on the page to correct this. This information is from the following source, redirected from the official Guild Wars website:

Thanks for the help anyway guys, much appreciated that you took the time to lend a hand =)

there is a period of time that you have to wait, im not sure how long it is though.
nameless bond
It's not normally long, I have a name that I've used over several characters, normally about 3 minutes is long enough for me
Xx Da Best Xx
It takes 60mins according to wiki.

That's right! Drach'nyen, you must wait for the name to be released by server.

I made a female warrior, all blond and stuff, that I called Hack N Slash Barbie. I deleted her (not a real warrior/melee player) and like a week later I saw another female warrior with that name.
Grab 'em while you can!
Elder III
or just come up with a truly original name and you don't have to worry about it :/
