On my second computer i have a samsung 192n monitor, when i turn the computer on everything works fine..until 5 minutes after being on, the monitor goes off...and there is this smell of plastic coming from it..so i guess that it is overheating. Anyone know if there is a way i could repair it or something?

The smell of plastic is coming from the monitor? Not the PC? And it is the monitor switching off, not the PC?

Firstly I'd check the power and DVI connections. Could be a bad cable.

Do you have a 2nd PC or a laptop you can hook the screen up to for testing purposes?

I've never personally seen an example of a screen frying - not saying that it doesn't happen, just that on desktops I don't believe it is common, and is most likely caused by a power fault.

If the screen is in warranty getting it replaced should be fairly easy.

You may, however, have fried your CPU or GPU (more likely given the symptoms), or even your PSU. I'd recommend inspecting them. Usually overheating (the sort that causes the buring plastic smell) leaves quite obvious signs on your PC parts.
