At least that's my fear. I still hold out hope that the Sylvari will look more like Avatar of Melandru than Legolas.

They most likely will. The concept art I saw looked more like nymphs or dryads or something than LOTR elves.

Either way. Ehh. Hard to call exactly, but I would expect Charr to be a definite fixture for the top 3, and probably humans as well provided the preference for them in game is similar to what it is here. I'm not sure whether the third spot would go to the Norn or Sylvari; I'd probably guess the latter for, dare I say it, sex appeal.

Professions would be anyone's guess considering they'll be reworked and some may be dropped. Anything like a Warrior will of course be the most popular, while I expect healers to be a staple as well (that said, that doesn't necessarily put them at #2 considering the relative scarcity of monks in GW1). An elementalist-like caster class would finish the "holy trinity", as usual.

I'd doubt they'd make them look like Avatar of Melandru, they'll make them the elvish-like race because some people like to play as those.

Not that I would, I'd make in order:
1.Human(most people probably will have one named after their main character in GW, but I don't think it will be the most played of my characters)
2.Charr
3.Norn
4.Asura
5.Sylvari(I probably end up not making one at all)

I will defenitely not play a non-human character. Why you ask?

*I dont like elfish-styled-plant-vegetarians, i seriously dont like the idea of playing with a plant that eats... plants?! And sylvaris can't play with matches, couldnt even consider having one casting Fireball without killing itself.
* I dont like the idea of playing with gigantic crazy fur-ball kittens that like to kill and burn everything for... no apparent reason?!
* I dont like the idea of playing with ridiculously small, megalomaniac, arrogant, nerdish creatures that obvisouly can't ride roller-costers (i can only imagine how sad is an asura on a theme park). And my mom allways told me not to be friend of something that you can accidently squish.
* I dont like the idea of having to play with a character that can only talk on the third person ("a norn this", " a norn that") and that obviously resembles a Wookie, with the size, fur and the yelling, hence the popular phrase "never anger a norn" (never anger a wookie - Captain Solo). Crazy-tall-people are crazy i tell you!

Thats why i am playing with a Human, cant go worng with it! ;]

Human : Assassin
Not the White/Islamic type. No offense
Keep it the traditional Asian type, fancy moves and more of an acrobatic type please Anet, or else I will not buy GW2.

If there is a Paragon Class, then my primary toon for GW2 will definitely be a Norn Para.

If there is a Necromancer Class, then I will definitely have one as well, as my primary in GW is a Nec.

Well my main ranger has somehow been able to have survived the 200 or so years seeing as he is an elf. But hopefully he can have a sweet beard this time around. Charr melee with a Sylvari caster should hold me over for a while.

i'm seriously confused at how a chronomancer would have fit into the gameplay. like, slow or speed up time, i get that, but without it having an affect on the whole instance kind of defeats the purpose...

anyways, Asuran para? ooh, i think so

I agree with this, although if Tengu were a playable race, I'd say it'll be split between those two.

Everyone will probably end up having a human to have the whole descendant thing (although for bonuses, it probably won't matter much, and ANet will probably link Charr characters to Pyre, Asura to Vekk, Norn to Jora).

Seeing how professions are unannounced and have been said to be different I'll just say that the professions I put down, I will pick the closest to.

I will try to have a:
Charr Necromancer (main) *There will always be the death profession*
Sylvari Ritualist (or Ranger if no Ritualist)
Human Ranger (or Elementalist if no Ritualist)

(I would love to have an Assassin, but I doubt that there will be expansion professions, and I'm starting to get sick of playing melee).

I think the Core professions will just end up getting renamed, and the expansion professions merged into different core professions. But who knows.

I think it would act similar to a mesmer *or for the real nerds, Rolo's Geass in Code Geass*, affecting one's perception of time, not time itself.

Edit: Random Thought: What if ANet puts the Chronomancer into GW2? Why waste a concept for a profession when you say you're going to use all knew professions? -hopes for a chronomancer that isn't imba in GW2-

Well the professions are not the biggest issue when deciding. They will probably all (professions) make some sort of show either hybridized or True to form. The races will be the special point I believe.

/Tangent
The only thing i hope is they keep somethig similar as to what they have now with adjustably atts and skils. I hate being locked in like in other MMO's.
/Tanget

I think Syvari and Norn wil actually my a large showing in the begining (will probably play both at some point). But then drop as the novelty cools. Though maybe not theres something to be said about othr races... whos going to try to Sex up some hairy furball?? lol

Charr will actually make the biggest first impresion i think. They are cool if not very civil ;-p

but thats the thing though, to the people who got geassed by Rolo, it seems as though no time had passed. how anet could implement this into the game without freezing everyone who was within range at that time is beyond me. plus it 'd be abused to hell by runners and people with a sin secondary.. haha

I think an Asuran ranger would be using modified weapons, so character height wouldn't matter. They seem to be a race that is constantly "improving" things.

I plan on making one human warrior as my main's descendant. Then I want one of each race to try them out.

A fire-casting Charr (if they retain their affinity for fire)
A healer Sylvari (nature-based healing)
A caster or ranger of some sort Asuran
A Norn (can they be non-melee if bear-form is their special?)

Hopefully, we will get at least 4 character slots with the game as with the original. And we definitely will need the ability to buy more slots. I have 10 now on one account.

YOU KNOW NOTHING OF CHARR!

Charr fight for the thrill and wish to be dominant, it's in their culture. Anything they find as a possible threat, they consider an enemy. First the Forgotten, then humans. Not to mention humans stole half their land, I'd be annoyed too if I was in their situation...

Charr only have an affinity to fire in the Flame Legion, which will be caste down and renamed the Gold Legion in GW2 time, only 1/4 of the Charr ever liked fire.

Norn will be able to play casters. This guy is proof.

And, I'm gonna add something to my previous list.

1. Charr Necromancer (main) *There will always be the death profession*
2. Sylvari Ritualist (if no Ritualist-like profession, then idk, but gonna have a Sylvari for sure!)
3. Human Monk (or whatever the healer will be called)
4. Norn Ranger (or ranged attacker)
5. Asura Elementalist (I want a fiery shorty)

I hope there will be at least 5 character slots from the get-go... :]

Please don't use Avarr The Fallen as an example of a caster for any race. He can't use half his skills.

In GW, I have a warrior, a mesmer, a ranger, a monk, a necro, a ritualist, a dervish and an ele. I enjoy switching off to a different type of character. So I would just like to be able to have the same type of enjoyment in GW2, no matter what they call the professions.

I realize that they want to shorten the profession list. They discovered with GW that too many make a shambles of PvP. But not too short. Maybe we could have professions that can't PvP.

That's just not true. The only official word on professions in GW2 is that they will be based off of the ones we have in GW1. Also, the non-core professions were unbalanced in pvp only because they weren't created with the core professions. The core professions were all created together with each other in mind. After factions, the additional professions had to be kinda squeezed into the "gaps" between the core professions but Anet were unable to really make them fit without really changing the original professions. Does this make sense?

My point is: Anet may very well be able to create 10 balanced professions as long as they are all created at the same time. This will inevitably cause all professions to be different from what we have today, but all the professions will fit well and be balanced against each other.

Guilds? Where we're going we don't need guilds...

R/Rt

The second it comes out Im headed right for a Charr Hunter/Archer/Ranger character...

It also helps that they are the only non human race that seems to have any depth to them at all...
