I was interested in picking up the first Guild Wars, and decided on the collector's edition (from ebay, considering how ridiculously priced it is elsewhere) mainly due to how it offers exclusive in-game content, but then I find out about the Special Edition and the GOTY edition, which also offer exclusive ingame content for those packages. What I'm wondering is this- if I were to choose any of these versions, would I be unable to import the special content from any of the others into a single copy of Guild Wars? IE, would I have to play each of those individual editions apart to get ahold of the special content in them? Or is there a way I can get all of the content from online distribution like what's found in the PvP edition?
Also, does anybody know where I can find decently priced copies of any of these editions outside of ebay? I constantly see them going for nearly $100 or more.
Content for the different editions of GW

You can buy any of them and add the key(s) from any of the others. However, lets say for example, you buy the Prophecies CE and then later add the GOTY Edition. What you'll end up with is 4 character slots + aura of the gods + the bonus items from the GOTY edition and nothing else. Simply put, stacking keys for the same game, only adds on the things you don't already have. As for getting content from online distribution, I can't remember exactly what the Special Edition gave, but I am certain that the aura of the gods from the CE is only available through the purchase of the CE and it's not available in the online store.

the only thing that cost 100+ is GW CE this has divine aura stuff and is the rarest version. IMHO it ISNT worth it. the one with bonus items must bought separately and added into your account.

Wow, thanks, this answered almost everything. Also, Dargon, this is what the special edition includes:
This doesn't really sound like anything that unique, so is this available in-game from any edition or from digital distribution via the online store?
Also, could somebody get back to me on finding decent pricings for some of these editions? I found a reasonably priced copy of the collector's edition on ebay, but both the special edition and pvp edition seem quite expensive almost everywhere else.
Quote:
The Special Edition contains a (PvP) Skill Pack code which allows 7 regular skills, 1 elite skill, and 2 runes to be unlocked for the account from a Priest of Balthazar. The Special Edition also contains a special music-code to access in-game music from DirectSong.com, the Official Guild Wars Soundtrack CD, The Art of Guild Wars Book 2 and a map of Tyria. |

Special and GotY should be cheap, CE should be REALLY expensive, sure you don't got something messed up?

Watch out for the "inexpensive" ones, they usually get you with the Shipping costs.
I check two GW CE - one Starting Bid $99 w/$3 shipping; one Starting Bid $1 w/$30 shipping.
While the $198 offerings seem expensive, this is a more likely price to pay. Remember that starting bid does not equal selling price.
----------------
But the specials offered in any CE edition are NOT available any other way. ArenaNet has been very firm about this. You can buy upgrades to get special edition stuff, but not the collector items.
If you want to double-check contents, go to the guildwars.com website where they list the box contents for every edition.

CE stuff will stay in the CE package so if you have the money go ahead buy it but its really not worth it, i mean what are the chances your gonna be dancing in town just to show off your divine aura? the rest of the stuff from CE is mediocre at best.

Thanks for the pointers on the pricings, I've got everything answered now.
