Alright, after this weekend I have had enough. Do drop rates increase with 8 people or not? Obviously because the game has to produce more drops for everyone, but upon actually farming the drops are pretty dang near the same as solo. I am referring to raptor farming mainly. People take leechers for more drops, when I tried it and leeched as well (had to look from both sides) the runner got the same amount of drops as me. Also, if the leechers are out of the area, wouldn't it only drop for the farmer? So I beleive it increase the drops by so little that we should charge for the runs, while everyone else says, "oh no we shouldnt they increase our drops you NEWB!" So whats the deal, I think as I said that its so little it doesnt matter, while they seem to think it's a huge difference?

Well yes there are more drops but you have to split them between 8 people.

I know people swear on the "if everyone is far away then you get all the drops." I've never had this happen for me. I have flagged h/h clear across the map, then cleared several mobs with the same result as the hero's and henchies standing right next to me.

That technique does work however in regards to xp.

WHERE DO YOU THINK

W/

There are a million and one guesses on drops and no definitive answer, I find that If they are not in the area they are effectively not in the party in regards to drops, thiough I do not mess with that crap and just go solo.

it makes a difference the first time you go in an area and kill stuff.

after that the game knows you're farming and your drops dont appear.

try it...take a full party of h/h into a mission you haven't done in over a month or so. flag heroes at the start, run out and solo some stuff. presto! every single enemy drops something. then repeat in the same area. very little drops.

the reason it takes most people so long to figure this out is, the first time they go try to farm an area they die, so when they start killing stuff in mass numbers the drops are already resticted because they had to repeat entry.

lol, you want to charge people to do you a favour? Leecher should charge you for asking them to waste their time standing there and not get any drops while you try to improve your drop rate, they can very well go out themself, kill stuffs with H/H, gets rep points, experience points and drops all at the same time.

i think some people seem to forget that, the increase only happens if those members are around you...(in your mini map radius) when you go out of that area..the game will consider you "solo" that's why u get equivalent xp as soloing, and that's why you flag heroes away while killing bosses..since the game will consider that you're the only one present at that moment and give you the green drop most of the time.. I have 3 accounts..and if i go with 3 characters in the same zone..and flag them at the entrance while i farm ahead. i will be considered solo and wont get the 2 people bonus drop. well that's how ive been experiencing it. So, what i mean is..when you get leechers..your drops are the same as you are solo..leechers...they only leech lawl.

I think they have both farming codes working in Guild Wars now. At first, they just had the one based on party size when they installed hard mode into GW. However, I think in recent months they reinstalled the old farming code that does away with good drops according to “rinse and repeat” (farm same areas more then once) methods of farming. However if you ask A-net, they most likely will tell you that only the party size farming code is currently active.

I never did the hard statististics on it but i do believe that loot is greater but certainly better (more golds) when I did HM Turai farm (before splinter nerf) or lately HM hidden city 600rit/smite in a nearly empty district (like Polish, Russian, Spanish) instead of the English district.

There is still some form of loot scaling imposed whether people want to see it or admit it or not. The issue of the first time you do a zone you haven't done in a long time will yield high amounts of goodies is true and each successive time you do the same zone afterwards these drops become less and less. I did a study on one zone six times and each time the amount of things I got and the colors of the items dropped considerably. Best thing you can do is goto a different zone and complete the whole zone and move onto another one until a week has expired and by that time the first zone has restocked again with more and higher content. I made 100k a week this way when I was heavy into pve so it worked for me and I didn't play 24/7 either.

It also depends if your group is human or H&H;

There is a easy way to test just VQ Dalada in HM with full H&H team then get on one of those CoF HM runs in Doomlore with a full 8 Man human team.

I have vanquished Dalada which is close to 300 kills many times and usually filled my main bag and maybe a couple slots in the pouch bag. I have gone on many CoF HM runs with all human teams in which we get about one third as many kills yet I almost always end up with all full bags, even have to leave stuff behind some times.

Hell I have even VQ Sancoth before which is around to 500 kills and not filled all my bags so drop rates with non-humans is screwed. I believe it is Anets little way of punishing us for not playing to the way they think we should play and that is with other humans.

I would almost make the hypothesis, that when a group zones in. All of the drops are determined at that exact moment.

As in, Each monster is assigned a drop and it is assigned to a person right when the group zones. If that person is greyed out when that monster dies, it does not drop its loot. Possibly also if its loot is assigned to a Hero/henchie it drops but goes invisible instantly. That is why every once in a while you catch a quick glimpse of a drop that disappears while holding the ctrl button down. This happens for me a lot when battle with henchies.

I use ctrl to display targets then click with on them to target with the mouse. While holding ctrl you will see these drops for a split second then they are gone.

I laugh at the people who think leeching helps in some way. Only thing it helps is the leecher's rep points.

Too right MagmaRed. I also laugh at the farmers looking for leechers. If the leechers were close enough to the action people would get there drops. I take 5 accounts down to cof or UW and everyone gets a share of the drops even though only the 600 or 55 is doing the work and the others are standing at the fringes well away from the fighting though they are well within radar. Drops don't suck unless your repeat farming. But I have noticed when farming raptors the drops start great then go crap but after quite a few runs you might get another great run here and there. All a mystery just as it should be.

Want big raptor farm drops?
Get a semi organised team of leechers (lol at my own suggestion) kill off the roaming raptors.
Get everyone to stand at the cave entrance while you go kill all the nestlings + boss.
Everyone gets their drop alocation.
Then get eveyone to leave without picking up their drops, map back to Rata and reform the team so you can have nice drops again and again

LoL at all of that..

Suck it up crappy drops happen to all of us.

All you have to do is acquire 8 accounts, and somehow slave 7 of them to follow you at the drop radius limit, whatever that is(radar range?), and then farm as normal. Then pick everything up. You can do the same trick with 2 parties in Zaishen Elite to get 48K Balthazar faction in less than 45 minutes. I don't really recommend taking these suggestions seriously, but it is certainly possible.
