Changing Skill Icons

It has come to my attention that Area Net doesn't mind you modding the game, as long is it's for fun. I was wondering if someone could tell me how to modify the icons that represent the skills.

You can do this with Texmod. Cycle through the textures in logging mode until the skill icon turns green(or whatever color you set; default is green). Substitute the image you want in package build, and then load the .tpf in package mode. A more detailed guide is available on the official wiki, along with a link to download Texmod. You must run Texmod, and launch GW from Texmod, everytime you wish to load your altered icons. I think this is the link to the page on the official wiki, but it is currently not available, at least, not for me.

I've done this before- a cool thing to do is use unused skill icons (ones that were created but never actually had a skill assigned to them and are therefore nowhere in the actual game) in place of real ones. For example, I think the Favorable Winds icon is ugly, so I replaced it with the unused icon for High Winds, a skill that was in beta but never implemented. The icon matches thematically but is much more visually pleasing. I also used the unused Ritualist icon (can't remember the name of it for the life of me) in place of Flesh of My Flesh and the unused icon with a lion on it for a beast mastery skill in place of Charm Animal.
You can find many unused skill icons at http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Historical_Content, however, I'm sure there are more around that I can't find. I remember seeing a crapload of unused Necromancer icons on someone's wiki userpage once.
I would recommend you make a folder just for modified skill icons. That way you can add another icon if you want, delete your old "Modified Skill Icons.tpf", and make a new one with the new ones on it. This way you can add on whenever you want while still keeping your icon modifications out of all the other .tpf's you make.
