That date is a fail-safe incase GW2 doesnt launch before then (to stop the competition drawing out longer than needed). It doesnt have any indication of the actual GW2 release date.

Did you even read who is putting on the contest and what is required for it?

Anyhow, not the kind of thing I would want to do (plus I can make my own plushies) but I hope others have fun with it. It is nice to see others still having fun with GW.

Now Im waiting for the official Halloween contest to be announced.

This reward structure fails.

So this contest designer is saying:

I want you to do work. Preferably sooner rather than later.

But, the competition rewards the "best" site at the end.

If you do work now, it's a virtual certainty that someone will put up a "better" site than yours between now and then. That necessitates a site rebuild and more work.

Worse, if you build the "best" mousetrap between now and contest end and make it a public entry, you reveal what is needed (at the time) to "win".

Assuming you want the prize, the winning strategy is therefore to wait until relatively late in the competition and then attempt to one-up the best blog.

So only suckers will put up blogs between now and close to release. Since they are suckers, said blogs are likely to be bad.

Net effect: poor contest entries for some time to come. If this were a six month contest, no problem. But in a potentially *two year* contest...this contest design is just made of fail.
