Thinking of starting again...

Hey,

I haven't played Guild Wars for AGES. I gave it up a while ago. However, I really feel like playing an MMO and want to give this a go again. What sort of build should I go for (I want to start from scratch.)

Thanks.

PvXwiki's been made in the meantime, you can simply load the builds (and then modify them if you'd like) onto your character by copying and pasting the template codes now (:

Before we know what basic type of build to give you, we need to know which of the 4 games you have . And what profession you are.

But I say, try making your own at first. If you don't make a good one, give PvX a go for ideas, still stumped? Then ask us.

My old builds sucked. Hard. I enjoyed playing ranger but I still have the odd feeling that I buggered up something. I went for something that sounded fun but would probably have ended up being crap in the end.

PvX completely confused me. There are so many builds on that site. Oh, I just have Prophecies right now.

The problem is we'd have to know what class you plan to play and more importantly, what your goals are? For example, do you want to use the class(es) and build(s) that would get you to blow through the game as fast as possible? Or do you want have some fun along the way? Do you want to melee or spellcast? Etc.

Thanks, looks like I'm going to have to do some reading.

if you're playing ranger, as long as you have Distracting Shot and Savage Shot on your bar and you can become fairly proficient at using them, you'll be a better ranger than most rangers out there already.

You can play a Barrager/Interrupter fairly easily. As joshuarodger stated, as long as you are proficient with D-Shot/Savage Shot, you'll be better than most of the Rangers out there today (disclaimer - any and all decent or better Rangers, I haven't come across you yet... I know you're out there, unfortunately, Lyssa hasn't granted me the luck to find you... instead, I find the ones that think you wait for the bar to finish before using D-Shot... ugh). Barrage adds nice damage, especially when backed up by an Orders Necro (numbers... OH THE NUMBERS!).

Staple d-shot to ur bar, and then go however u want. As long as u can reliably interupt 1 second spels ur all good. However, rangers generally arent accepted in most forms of elite missions, except maybe fow. They can solo them, or participate in team farms (eg 600/famine/smite), but most team builds dont include a ranger
