I suggest you make a paragon if you are looking at playing him/her long term due to the fact you can choose to become an imbagon which will allow you more chance of doing elite areas later in the game(s) This is assuming they don't nerf SY.

Dervish does have its ups but it is limited in the farming respect, I have one and only use it for 4 physical fow.

They're both stupid in power.

Dervs have the most insane weapon damage in the game, with great skills to increase their power, such as Aura of Holy Might, Wounding Strike etc..

Paragons have the most imbalanced defensive skill and IAS in the game, and while being in range deal roughly the same DPS as a Sword Warrior. Not to mention their energy management.

yarr.. dammit.
Was about to go with my Dervish..
But now y'all got me thinking again

I heard many people say that Paragons suck at PuG's and solo..
Is that true?

Which and does Dervishes suck at PvP??

People are stupid. You shouldn't trust what 90% of the people who play this game say because they're the ones running the Mending W/Mo seriously most of the time.

Dervs in PvP have Wounding Strike.

I've got one of each and can say that I find Dervish more enjoyable.

Paragon's have quite a few uses but most people you meet in game will expect that you suck, or are an Imbagon. (Which is of course not true, <3 Stunning Strike)

Paragon can also be quite good support with Stunning Strike in RA, imo anyways.

You could always make one of both, play them for a while and just delete the one you don't enjoy .

Hm.. I think I be on the Dervish side for now..

But um.. as for paragon, can he be also good offence, like better than Dervish?
Cos I ain't like much Def based charz..

Although.. I already have a very advanced Sin(in PvE) which I'm hoping to
take it only for PvP, and if I'll have also Dervish I be hasing 2 dmg based charz..
but with Paragon I'll have also a good support char... what you guyz think I should choose??

A Paragon won't meet the offensive capabilities of a Dervish, but a Paragon could support the party offensively and defensively better. If you want to PvP though, make a PvP character. It's cheaper and easier and doesn't need you to buy all of your weaponsets.

Paragon is more like a Ritualist: Great party support (the bigger the party the better) but lacking offensive on its own. Party support can be both offensive and defensive but the defensive one is way more powerful.
Dervish is like a lovechild between Warrior and Assassin: Awesome damage with great defense. And area of effect damage for free

ok heres a solution. make both. Try your fun with dervishes ( i'm one!). Then go ahead and make a new charecter thats a paragon and check out the different oppurtunities and skills. Decide then which one you like better.

If you going for "Ph33r me i am solo god of death!" be a dervish.

If you want "ha ha nubs Ph33r me and my (nearly) invincable party!" then go paragon

In a less retarded translation:

Dervish: High damage dealers with enchants, forms, and crazy scythe skills to support them. This is a great solo class and due to a few useful skills like avatar of balthazar or vow of silence they are great runners. Though this main seemed biased i like to think of a derv as pure ownage in a can.

Paragon: This class is more support then anything. Dont get me wrong they arent 'weak' persay but they just arent mainly damage dealers. The role of the paragon lies within their party. Using leadership and command skills a paragon makes his/her party stronger. Also just because a para is mainly a support class doesnt mean you cant jump into the fight as well. many paragons like to make a build that in most part supports their team but can also do DECENT damage.

I hope this helped cleared things up. But guessing by that quote i put in i am guessing OP will probly leave this to rot

Depends on what you enjoy doing more...Paragon's have great party buffing skills and decent enough dps on their own. Dervish's are good at self buffing and can do obscene amounts of damage.

So do you wanna buff your party so it does more damage and at the same time takes very little. Or do you wanna drop monsters in a couple hits and see really big numbers flying around? I personally enjoy both classes so I'd say make both.
