Gold Selling and XH Reward Pts.
The First Silvari
Why do ppl buy gold? To artificially enhance their e-peen? or is it the title grind? (perhaps the same thing...)
To stop trade in illegal stuff like in game stuff for real money, you have to stem the demand. I have an idea to reduce gold selling and improve the bottom line for ANet. Reward ppl who buy more copies of GW by offering more RP each month for each account. That way ppl give their money to GW rather than the offshore gold bot operations. First of all, you need to get the RP to the accounts on a reliable basis last month was <fail>.
Anyway this may already be the idea behind RP in the first place but IDK i think it makes sense.
Rethink... not fair more money larger e-peen.

Can't stop the gold buying/selling. Doesn't effect you in anyway, so just let them get on with it.
Yawgmoth
Isn't it exactly like that right now? What do you want to change?
You can already buy many accounts and get XTH reward points for each of them. Lots of free money every month.

If GW was a gear based game then money would have a slight bearing, as it is not, money means nothing. Let people buy gold, it doesn't make them better.

one thing i have thought about its that ppl don't want to work to get the cash so ppl will buy gold, so why not have anet sell it, they can make money off of it and hopefully spend that working on gw
Expherious
Fortunatly, Anet makes sure that you can easily afford anything that is essential to make you a fully functioning person in GW anything else is just cosmetic.
Malice Black
Because GW isn't a gear based game. If it was, they most likely would offer some kind of cash shop.

lol i once found a W/R in AB with full obby, he used troll unguent, had a pet, and tried to use gash on me while i was not bleeding. I laughed rather heartily as I slayed him...

Buying gold in GW accomplishes nothing more than slightly nicer looking graphics and I really don't see the problem with it. Its not like you can get better weapons or stronger armour and give yourself an unfair advantage when playing against others.
I ran all my characters on collecters armour/items (and some still are) until I bought what I thought was a nicer skins but if I only played a few hours a week and wanted nicer shiney pixles on my game while i played then i wouldnt see a problem in buying gold to achieve that.
Anet should look into selling gold for GW , there's a market for it and they won't ever stop the gold sellers from expoiting it so they'd be aswell making the money for themselves.

one thing ur forgetting is that RMT inflates the prices of items in the game economy because it promotes botting for the RMT companies, leading in a much bigger influx of in game cash, and raises the prices of objects for everyone else that doesnt buy from an RMT. bidding for items then becomes a case of who has a credit card. just think about how much high end items inflated after the duping incident. the same thing happens if RMT runs rampant.

The only thing that money gets you in GW is an 'Elite' skinned armor or a Rare weapon skin.
Obsidian Armor functions the same as the equivalent Droknar's Forge/Kaineng City/Consulate Docks armor, and a req9 15^stance, 3/-1, +30hp Crystalline functions the same as *ANY* req9 15^stance, 3/-1,+30hp Sword.
If you want flash, get cash (however it is you do it... farm, eBay, powertrade... it's your call; if you eBay it, ANet has already told you what's going to happen to your account... don't blame anyone but yourself), if you don't care about the wrapping paper, your ugly-as-sin Spiked Axe does the same thing as that other person's Tormented Axe, your simple collector shield has the same stats and functionality as that Draconic Aegis, and your armor protects you just as well as that craptastic Obby Armor that person B just eBay'd.
If you can't live with the fact that other people have either farmed or eBay'd or powertraded that one lucky drop all the way to having Rarer/Better items than you, hit ALT+[F4], type C:/ uninstall C:/ProgramFiles/GuildWars, run to the bathroom, and use the /slitwrist command.
ANet is not going to offer Gold-purchasing options in the in-game store. It was said earlier in this post: anything that you can access to have an advantage in-game can ALREADY BE BOUGHT at the in-game store or on your PlayNCSoft account.
Deal with it.

I don't get this one. Gold selling/buying is ellegal now, everyone knows that. Your idea simply makes it legal because then Anet is selling the gold. This can't be a good idea, just leave it the way it is.

The wammo's were not the playerbase that started frenzy-healsig. Their mindset is on invulerable tank, so they never use frenzy, double damage is so bad.
Sir Pandra Pierva
what i always found so funny about frenzy healsig is that they are the 2 first warrior skills that you get in pre searing which is probolly why the joke has lasted for so long in guildwars

Blizzard is fairly active in trying to shut gold selling down but they are , from what ive read over previous months , suing botsellers for player harrasment rather than for selling their Gold. No idea if any other games companies have followed the civil court route as Blizzard have done.
As it is , it's fairly easy to get ingame gold in GW . I play 2-3 hours a day at most and have more money that I can probably ever spend so it's not a sevice I need but it's not something that bothers me at all if someone else does.
As for Anet selling it , It was purely an observational point that they wont stop it from occuring , its obviously a service that people want so why not profit themselves.
newbie_of_doom
because they have too much money and nothing to do but still cant farm themselves because they fail

I thought RMT was completely illegal because you're paying real money for fake currency, and avoiding taxes or something like that. I think it's dumb that it goes on, but considering a lot of it is done by other countries there isn't tons we can do about it other than banning those that show themselves. IMO Anet should allow anyone to purchase prestige items in their store, but at the same time not prevent people from earning said items themselves. But this should only apply if the item offers no unbalanced advantages (same stats ect.)
Dunno about you guys. But if I could buy a nice item from the store for a few dollars I would, and probably more than once. So long as it's no more than just 5 dollars or so. It would bring in extra money for Anet and would stunt gold selling in Guild Wars. So not only would they get money from the initial purchase of the game, but if anyone wanted to purchase an item and could, the company would also have some money to coast on so they could do more for the community.
Each prestige armor set - $5
Each prestige weapon - $3
The reason most cash shops or item malls fail is because their prices are too high, and players are basically forced to give in to them. *see Perfect World, Last Chaos, Rappelz*

what the ... is XTH and RP?
/not signed if you are suggesting arena net sell in game gold. :P I for one will not buy that, still e-peen if you ask me, wants something work for it.

OP: To stem the demand for buying online in game currency from third parties, GW can give more reward points(RP) or Z Keys for xunlai tourny house predictions(XTH) each month for each account. So if you want Z Keys you can buy multiple copies of GW and have multiple accounts and thus more Z Keys every month.
If someone is going to plunk down $10, $30, $100 for in game gold then they can use that to purchase second third fourth copies of Guild Wars, start multiple separate accounts and get Z Keys for them every month.
I do have a problem with this in that you end up with people with money getting some of the buyable titles, better looking stuff, without relation to their ability to play. If this happened i would not care about those titles and better looking stuff.
Then i guess this is not a suggestion to do this but an observation only.

You guess the results of the monthly tournaments and get points (RP) for getting right or close answers which you then convert to cash. I don't pvp but i make around 100k-200k a month by doing that on my 2 accounts
You can also make RP's by taking part in the GvG or 1v1 pvp formats and again convert those to cash but i dont know what kind of placing you need to earn those since i never do it

There's one beautiful thing about this picture even better than what is seen in it, something hardly anyone ever points out, but is epic knowledge....When this picture was taken for the boxart on the game, helmets were not able to be hidden yet, so not only was a he a warrior with a crappy bow and a crappy build, but he also didn't have a full suit of armor.
Sage Tylos
This is the part that I've never been able to fathom. Pay my real money for something that doesn't really exist and has absolutely no value whatsoever outside of the game? I don't think so, lol. The reason it happens is some people think that having having 7 stacks of ectos and a full suit of FoW means something, when it really doesn't. I think it really just comes down to some people taking the game too seriously. I stopped farming and power trading when I hit 350k62e and realized that the reason I had accumulated even just that much was because I no longer had anything I needed or wanted to spend it on.

Hamstorm isn't that bad when you've got 3 pips of energy regen. On a Warrior. With a bow. With 4 skills out of three attributes from your secondary, Fire, Water, and Air Magic...
Meh, sorry for going OT, brings back memories.

Someone else might buy them from you for real money and it makes sense - its just like hiring you to farm it for him.
The First Silvari
hmm real v virtual. Well the boundaries seem more and more blurred. You do interact with ppl online in game right? is that not real life? How you interact sometimes affected by how you appear in game? Stupid but true?
WrathAttack
You have to keep in mind Many people who play Guild Wars are too busy in real life to farm for hours in order to get that "bling". But then again it is unfair and embarassing to admit that your wasting real money on virtual gold. As long as i dont ebay, i wont think of myself as a geek/loser or more importantly a piece of Sh*t. No offense to virtual gps fiends out there, lawl. Nor do I waste my whole day farming, i let the amount of time i have played a game decide how wealthy i am.In conclusion let time and experience be the judge.
