[ Using A Friends Account ]

I have a question for someone. I have a friend that has an account and wont be using it for awhile. He said he will let me use the account. I have my own GW account and I know I can't attach his with mine because the cd keys are different.

Which means I would have to use one or the other. Which brings me to my question. Can I use his account without creating any problems or being banned by anet for using his account? Hes in my guild and wants me to level up his char while hes gone. I told him n problem but I just don't want to get myself into trouble if I do it.

I am pretty sure that you'd be fine. Because, I know that when I have friend's away during events I just log in, get them their hat and get off. I even do some grinding for some people.

I know it says "not to share accounts" or whatever the case may be. Supposedly against the eula but theirs no way for them to tell that your someone else. The only reason I think they frown upon sharing accounts is because then someone complains they got hacked and all their items are gone.

If he wants to take the risk of giving someone his login info, game away. (Not to say that you are dishonest, but it's not a smart thing to do.)

ArenaNet does not allow the transfer of ownership of an account (cd key). And the owner of an account is responsible for the actions of anyone using that account.

That means that he can let you play on his account, but any bans you earn will be his to pay.

well not necessary, unless you do something thats bannable, you shouldn't just get randomly banned. However IF you do get banned you have a very slim chance of unbanning the account.

Well as I said, he'll be away for quite sometime as hes joining the Milatiry. He is one of my best friends and asked if I wouldn't mind logging onto his char from time too time to keep his char up to date and play it. I wouldn't be using it for anything that would make it bannable.

I just want to be sure if I do use it, I wont hender my or his copy, thats all.

To use it as described will not occur any penalties, nor will it be detrimental to either you or your friend.
