Anything coming up for Guild Wars?
saitens
I just came back from a long break and I've read some articles about how Guild Wars 2 will not be releasing in December 2008. Not even going to question the accuracy of it. But I was wondering, if this is true, will there be any updates for the game now? I mean, it seems more and more people have already left the game for good. Is Guild Wars just going to slowly rot away or will there be some updates to attract players back such as adding new armors, weapons, items, areas etc?
It's killing me to think that I'm here farming, playing the game again just to find out that the game isn't going to get anymore interesting than this and I'll be left with only a few players who are still interested in the game.

Probably some new content, but not a lot.
There were recently a designer and a programmer moved from GW2 development to GW1 support, presumably to produce stuff like the MOX quests released a couple of weeks ago.
But I don't think there's much hope for any more continents in GW1.

Well hopefull they will add new quests here and there, i know that the person that is working on GW again has some plains for the game, so well just have to wait and see. We do have the tormented weapons into the hall next week and later changed to the hall for account based as well as titles changes soon or later. those are really the only major things that are going to happen as fair as i know. but knowning anet they might have some stuff up there selves that they are not telling us about. really only time will tell.

www.guildwars.com for the only official updates, news and info - beyond that we don't really know much at this point. :/

Yes, GW2 has been pushed back, though to be fair, its not pushed back as no release date has ever been released. As for GW1, some HoM stuff will be changed and there's a overhaul of the Title system for next month. There's nothing else that we've been told of in advance, other then the upcoming holiday events. Doesn't mean there isn't anything else planned though.
That said, there has been some changes over at NCSoft, with some Anet folks moved far up the chain. Whatever is in the future for GW1, I don't expect they'll let it to be dull.

Well, despite what everyone might think, Guild Wars contributed USD4.9 million to the NCSoft 2008 Second Quarter Consolidated Sales so I would say Guild Wars is very much still alive and kicking.

I really don't get the people who say "Guild Wars is dead/dying". The sales of the games are still VERY strong, meaning there's a lot of new players constantly joining, and all of the main outposts are just as populated as they were a year or two ago. I don't see anything changing.
Yes, a lot of the older players are leaving due to the lack of new content, but that doesn't make the game dead.

Sadly I am also dissapointed that there will be no more major releases for GW1, but I can forgive them if they take thier time with GW2 and release a top noch game. And if I get tierd of GW1 months before GW2 comes out then I will be all that much more excited to play GW2.
On a side not I like the way you can play GW for the content, not becuase you feel obligated to make the most of your $15 a month. Then when I finish the content I can stop playing and feel satisfied. Insted of wondering what I should do to get my money's worth.

Maybe a few more quests like gaining MOX the golem....or nothing. No new content anyway, although there might be a few changes such as to the Hall of Monuments.

Halloween 2008.
Other than that, nothing much besides "changes" to the Hall of Monuments and possibly to some titles.

no the outposts definitely are not as populated as they were two years ago. the spirit of the game defintely is dead compared to the first year of the game.

Anyway, it is true when you say the spirit of the game changes, the fresh feeling is gone, but that applies to anything in life, isn't it.
Long live GW!

I recon 2010 before GW2, always did. If it arrives in 2009 think of it as a bonus.

I always have to laugh at the people that say GW must be dead because there are less people in the outposts. Hmm... maybe they are actually out playing the game? Like where I spend 90% of my ingame time. How shocking! People actually playing!

Don't you think that has something to do with the fact that the size of the game has essentially quadrupled in two years, so everybody is more spread out?
No... of course not that can't be it -rolls eyes-
