While farming wurms with my rit and now my paragon I have made a few casual observations on how spirits work with foes that go underground. So while the number of oppertunities you can use these observations are a bit rare, I'll pass them along anyways for people who are interested in this sort of thing or will get into one of the situations where you can use this.
-Spirits can attack foes that go underground provided the right circumstances. I haven't tried this on things that go into the air like Incubi or the final boss in NF.
-As long as the spirit doesn't cancel his skill when the foe goes underground he can keep attacking it until it dies.
-It seems that the spirits tend to cancel their attacks the moment the foe goes underground while the attack skill is activating. (I'm not 100% sure on this)
-If you have multiple spirits, as long as one spirit keeps attacking that foe when it goes underground, all of them can.
-If you have multiple spirits attacking multiple foes and one foe dies, the spirit will start attacking one of the other underground foes that another spirit is attacking.
-If you have multiple spirits attacking multiple foes and one spirit switches foes and the new target dies, there is a chance he'll switch back to his original foe.

This has some interesting content. I don't know if this information is mentioned anywhere else but good job. I'll think about this and try to extend this research a bit. When i play my ritualist, i normally play a communing protection type spammer (union, displacement, etc) so i'll check this out and continue it as much as possible.

A similar thing happens with pets. I noticed this whilst trying to level my rainbow pheonix to dire, and I noticed he would keep attacking once the wurm was gone... didnt see any reason to mention it coz its basically irrelevant, but thought id point it out here.
(I think I had the pets target locked, but i cant remember)

Shayne, I wouldn't be surprised if spirits can hit incubi if minions (or pets) can however I didn't want to say it did happen for certain because I hadn't tried it yet.

Just thought that It might be worth moving this to the bug forum... coz its not really restrained to ritualists, and its more of a bug then a question about pve play.
