Armbraces going for 100k+50e Lol...
Shadowmoon
Shursh, no one was buying at those prices, When i asked my friends who had 7+ armbraces for sell yesterday, they could only sell for at most 100k+35e. And I was selling my braces for this at the beginning of the week.
I supect armbrace may go up eventually beause doa is not very pug friendly now, and few guilds run it. It it won't be because of the HoM addition.
You only need 11 weapons to fill a hall, and when you have the choice of 50k a piece and 50e a piece weapons, the average person will fill most of his hall with destoyer. The only people filling up there hall with all tormented are completionist (like myself), and they spent the past 5 month getting a full set at the bargain prices of ursan days.

Guh. Now I'll never get a hold of a Tormented sword
Cobalt
Yep they have been going up since the idiotic Ursan nerf which meant a whole lot less farming of the gemstones to get them.

true - but I still wonder if i sold a bit prematurely. The creation of new tormented weapons will definitely slow down over the next few months, limiting their supply.
unless of course more people catch on to those nice DOA team builds i've been seeing lately, especially the Ether Renewal/Cry of Pain elementalist team build. i've been dying to try that out with a PUG, but people either don't know what Cry of Pain is, or think a necro can't run it...
godsie
me too would love to try out cry of pain builds but not much luck so far can run with mesmer or elementalist

Give the dedicated weapons to heroes. Dunkoro is a beast with that extra 20%.

Yeah, but a LOT of the guilds who are good enough to run it simiply aren't anymore. But thanks to this update a lot of guilds are planning on starting it up again. For example, my guild is planning to do several DoA runs this weekend (whenever we aren't HFFF), something we haven't done in months. So, it kinda balances out. Yeah, there will be increased demand, but that will also lead to a (abiet small) increase in the number of people doing it.
dilan155
it will balance out given time, i stopped caring about money a while ago and thus did not save armbraces or anything. im curious as to why a person would fill something with 500k+ items when it could be filled with 200k+ items. im guessing e-peen plays a big part on this, meh.
P.S the numbers are off the head guesstimates of the totals.

Not really. Its PvE ffs its not like its hard. And if its anything that there is a chance you may want to sell later or give to someone because you got something better then too bad cause you customized it.
More like if you need to customize them in PvE your either stupid or bad.
There is no need for you to customize weapons in PvE its already easy enough as it is.
Not dumb to give up a little bit of damage if there is a possibility that you may want to sell it later or give it to someone.
As I said PvE is easy enough as is if you really need the 20% then you must not be so great at GW.

If you're supposed to be doing damage, you're dumb if you give up 20% extra damage. Yes, even in PvE. More damage is never bad, and should always be used.
Anyways, I remember when Fenix and others said the price would rise when this update happened, and people laughed at them and called them dumb. Funny stuff. |

The game being easy is not an excuse for saying that playing badly is proper.
You're welcome to play below the optimum, but don't pretend your way is the the good way. You accept those penalties on yourself for whatever reason you wish. I often run random, terrible bars in PvE just for the fun of it, but I don't tell people that 'PvE is easy so you should just run these bars'.
It's not subjective, giving up damage as a damage class makes you worse at doing your job.
This doesn't need any more discussion.

Meteor casts 1 second faster, I'm sure because of this that everyone will run "Meteorway" and thus the prices of Armbraces will crash in the "Great Armbracession of 2008", causing them to drop to a market value of 25g.
Or not, but hey, I can dream right?

Wow, I knew Tormented weps were being added to HoM, but didn't expect the price of Armbraces going up by 30e!
That's just...stupid :S |

That post, among others. The GW economy is pretty predictable.

Actually, if you'd been keeping track of the prices of Armbraces, they were already going for 100k+40-ish BEFORE the update. The hype of the whole HoM update had a much larger effect than the actual update, since the hype had lasted so long. Now that the update has actually occurred, prices are going DOWN because everybody who hoarded armbraces are trying to sell them right now. Demand went up, but market supply went up even more.
As for the customization debate that is for some reason being held in this thread, I would say customizing your weapons obviously is better for playing, but a lot of people (including me) don't do it often because we get tired of our weapons and might want to sell them later on. I customize my weapons only if I know I'm not going to upgrade it to a better skin/req/damage mod later on. If I have a req 9, it's not getting customized because I know I plan on upgrading it. If I have a req 8 15^50 bow for my ranger, I've customized those because I know I can't upgrade those further.

I have seen zero effect on the actual armbrace prices. The only affect ive seen is the actual unwanted tormented items for sale are actually selling at a price closer to what an armbrace goes for (100k+30-35e). So if you have a tormented bow that you dont want you have a much better chance of getting +25-30 than settleing for +20ish like last week.
w00t!
Sure you can. HFFF for a bit and you'll make >5k/hour. Or make an embarrassingly simple SF sin/ele/mesmer and solo UW for a bit. Or just PvE on a regular basis. Money is not at all hard to accumulate in Guild Wars. Ridiculously large amounts of money is, but not, say, 500k. If you can't seem to make that kind of money, then switch to a guild that can help you do it.
Well, I've customized a few weapons just so I won't be tempted to sell them later. Want to see my r8 15^50 tyrian chaos axe that's customized - and a fow chest drop at that.
It is certainly worth customizing weapons for warriors, rangers, dervishes, and sins. Just for the sake of efficiency. On topic, you may not want to customize your Tormented Axe, but you can go get a collectors weapon with the same stats and customize that.

With the price of armbraces and the fact that tormented weapons dont add anything new to HoM, why would someone fill his HoM with tormented instead of destroyers?
It wont make HoM anymore full that it could be before the update.
And all i can see here is a really nice money sink/epeen booster put in place just to stop the QQ about having other weapons in HoM.

When PvE becomes so easy you can beat a campaign in less than a day there is no need to customize a weapon to get a little bit more damage if there is a chance you may want to sell that weapon later.
Im not talking about crap weapons customize them all you want. But customizing Tormented , Crystalines ect is just dumb unless you're so rich you dont care if you find a buyer for something for alot more than what you paid for it(some how I doubt many are that rich. and even if they are most want to be richer). PvE is WAY too easy to worry about 20% damage ooo Ill kill the guy 2 seconds faster wow.
