I was curious, since I know you can place a flag in many places, some people aim for the bottom of the stairs, or up in the water above the cliff. Then I saw a pic like this one.

I was just curious, which place is the optimal one to flag if you want the quickest run possible? I assume the shortest distance and closest one would be best. I have tried flagging in a few different areas but haven't really seen much difference in speed.
HFFF quickest stairs flag?

I place mine in the same place shown in your screenshot, but, the hero doesn't have to actually arrive to complete the quest.
I still have troll unguent on the skill bars as a carry over from when I was learning to HFFF, and they only use it upon arrival. I can collect prior to that hero actually arriving at the location shown in that screen shot.
Doesn't answer your question though, would take some experimentation as to where it the closest spot that would complete it.
What I do is take the quest BEFORE the hero reaches that point, and collect as soon as I can.

If you got Texmod. It will be very easy, there is a HFFF-mod, it shows the places where you need to put your flag , its awesome!

Yeah, I know where to place all the flags. I was just curious if any specific flag location would help speed up my runs. I think their averaged around 45 seconds or so, but was just wondering if anyone had some tips or closer flags that'd improve the speed.

mmm i would love to see this 45 second run. when i hFF'ed i was VERY fast. i was VERY well known b/c of it by all the hFF'ers in lutgardis. i had a record of 47.23 seconds and nobody could ever beat that. pm me in-game and show me this 45 seconds, plz (i will time you and even give you 2 or 3 runs in case you "mess up").
i am online now so pm me under "lena allums". thx.
edit: mmm okay just grouped with ya' in lutgardis to see how you would fare out. i timed you at: 46.754, 52.561, and 47.643. the first and 3rd runs were impressive so i'll say you're better than a lot of hFF'ers. back in my day when i hFF'ed (roughly a year 1/2 ago) the average time for a noobie/adept runner was 55-65 seconds. keep it up!
edit 2: come to think of it i also started the very first timer about a second late (right after the first enchant they casted) on it so it might be 47.754 and not 46.754.

I was supposedly hearing a person in game saying he was able to do 42 second runs. I didn't get a chance to group with them, but I have their name on my friend's list. My guess would be if he could achieve a 42 second run then it would have to be a script/ macro of some sort since even trying to go as fast as I possibly can I hit around 45-48 seconds with d/as.
