Simple... pictures of armor at traders is often lacking in detail, to small or simply incorrect. Why not just have a addon to the side of the trader window which shows your avatar (inventory style) with parts or sets of your preference.
As a side note, if such a thing was put in, basic info on sets would be nice such as total cost and requirements, max energy etc that it provides as well as if the armor is under a art work re-release like the 15k torm was.

a good gold sink here, in Lineage 2 they have the "try on" feature, which basically is you pay a small fee 10-50g, and you can "try on" any particular armor or weapons for 5 seconds. I think GW can benefit greatly from this easy-yet-useful feature.
