i checked up for 2009 and it says

any ideas what we might trade in for year of the ox?

no ideas, but I highly doubt they will do the exchange of 5 rats for a new celestial since the pig exchange was more due to 'overstock' (seeing as it was a gold item) . The rats were only obtainable thru the fortunes and not during the finale---a change from the previous year when you could get the pigs both ways.

I don't think there will be any trading this time around as the only reason they had the piggy trade

I imagine there will be no trade. It'll just be the same as last year, when you get them out of the fortunes, and they'll be the celestial versions. Can't wait till the celestial dragon or tiger. Or snake lol.

They will probably either change it to be a new animal (or a Minotaur, for simple modelling), or use the bull from Shing Jea Island (you know, the ones that block your path all the time right outside Shing Jea Monastery?), perhaps even an Afflicted Bull from Zen Daijun!
My bet is on the normal, useless, bull.
For the rest of the Chinese New Year animals:
2010: Tiger - a large version of the Tiger pet
2011: Rabbit - There are rabbits that will be used for models.
2012: Dragon - an exact re-use of the Celestial Dragon, Tahmu, in Naphui Quarter
2013: Snake - I smell a Naga
2014: Horse - Probably going to use the Celestial Kirin, Kaijun Don
2015: Sheep - will be a new animal/model.
2016: Monkey - Simian from EN
2017: Rooster - Don't think there is a Rooster/Chicken in GW anywhere, so new model.
2018: Dog - Probably a wolf model.
After the Dragon, the events will probably only take place in GW2, Snake might make it in GW1, but until GW2 comes out, hard to tell how many will keep playing for that many more years. (sooner or later, they will be shutting down the GW1 servers, I'm sure, my guess is in 2014)

Y'all have your hopes set a little high don'tcha? How many people are still working on GW1? Not many. Unless someone was thinking very far ahead, I wouldn't count on anything new. The events and such these days are already coded and in the system...it ain't no thang for them to reset the old stuff for holidays, weekend events and the like...I wouldn't even count on a new holiday hat this year. All that GW2 nonsense is keeping everyone quite busy, I'm sure. New content, unless already in the servers, is probably just a pipe-dream...I wouldn't hold my breath.

@Twin Raven - I haven't noticed a sudden lack of attention to GW players. The complaints I see are the same ones I saw last year and the year before that. While I don't expect any major additions to GW, I do expect to see new minis and festival hats.
And maybe, just maybe, some new things like the M.O.X. quest. It doesn't take much to put a little joy in the heart of a GW player.

I doubt there will be a trade again, they got rid of the pigs as they wernt really celestial looking and there were shitloads of them. Just expect a pet at the end of the festival again. And isnt it a bit early for this?

Darcy, you remind me of my mom...in a good way. She tends to find the good in everything: lose a job, find a better one...get a divorce, just means you have room in your heart for someone better...get a foot amputated, save 1/2 on the cost of shoes. You are right about finding joy in the small things...I just tend to find joy in the things I discover I have istead of the things I hope for and may never see. Living in the moment leaves a lot less room for disappointment...a lesson I learned whilst waiting for a certain item to appear in game for almost a year. Now, I don't have any expectations, so I'm rarely disappointed.

Plus those pigs had a fairly high droprate.
They wouldn't change the skin after people aquired them so they gave you the option to exchange it for a celestial version.
This year's pet wil be obtainable through lunar fortunes just like last year's.
And I highly doubt it there will be two pets.
Note: I only got two rats out of 500+ fortunes so be sure to complete the quests with as many chars as possible.

Im pretty sure they said there wouldn't be something liek last year due to the pigs were so easily obtainable. This way would have been alot harder to get a minipet this year.
