'My sharing folder' VISTA
beserk
Does anyone know how to delete this folder? I hate it.
I tried the following Start > Run > regsvr32 -u -s "C:\Program Files\MSN Messenger\fsshext.dll"
But that didn't work.
THEN...i tried Start > Run > regsvr32 /u "%programfiles%\Windows Live\Messenger\fsshext.8.5.1302.1018.dll"
And that gave me the following error
' The module "C:\Program Files\Windows Live\Messenger\fsshext.8.5.1.1302.1018.dll" was loaded but the call to the DIIUnregisterserver failed with error code 0x80070005.'
I was lost after the DII part lol, anyone help me out here?
Also was wondering if anyone knew how to delete the 'contacts' folder from my documents section (bit with videos, pictures folder etc) managed to delete the annoying search folder but can't seem to get rid of the contacts one.
Thanks.

One solid way to remove the "My Sharing Folder" is removing it from the registry.
Start > Run > Regedit
Delete the following entry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > Microsoft > Windows > CurrentVersion > Explorer > MyComputer > NameSpace > {FC9FB64A-1EB2-4CCF-AF5E-1A497A9B5C2D}
Note: if you're unfamiliar with regedit make sure you make a backup of your registry first, regedit is a powerfull tool but can cause you a lot of trouble if you accidently remove something.

Note - dll is DLL, not DII (as in Dynamic Link Library, not as in Deeply Idiotic Individual)
(Ninja edit: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dynamic-link_library - but your version is not unheard of, Sweetie )

When in the main Windows Live Messenger window go to Tools > Options > Security then check the box infront of "This is a shared computer so don't store my adress book, display picture, or personal message on it" then you can delete the My Contacts Folder.

Someone is bound to pop up and say "don't use WLM anyway - use <insert name of multi-IM program that I forget the name of here> instead."
They'd be right, too.
(C'mon people - what's that app called?)
